Tough Off-Season Starts With Tragedy; Darrent Williams Killed.

Stay connected for news and updates

What had already figured to be a tough off-season for Mike Shanahan and the Denver Broncos became significantly harder and for nothing to do with the football field.  Starting Cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in the late night hours New Year's Eve. Williams was riding in a Hummer Limozine when someone pulled up and began firing shots into the vehicle. Some reports are speculating that Willimas and Javon Walker were at a bar when an argument began between the two and patrons at the bar. The players left the bar in the limozine, and it is suspected the gunmen followed the pair.

At this time police have no suspects and no motive.  Two others in the limo were injured.  Let this be another grave reminder that football is, in fact, just a game and that we should keep in mind what is really important.  The loss to the 49'ers yesterday was disappointing, but nothing compared to the loss of a son, a friend, or a teammate.

Rest In Peace, Darrent Williams.
