Fun With Mocks - 1/10/07

Hughes is Ranked #19 Overall by ESPN

From now until the NFL Draft in April I will be keeping tabs of Mock Drafts and which direction  these "experts" have the Broncos going in.  Now, Mock Drafts are like a certain body part, everybody has one, so I will focus on the more "reputable" entries for now.  Feel free to create your own Diaries with Mock Draft you come across, just keep the same titling format for so we can keep track of a timeline.....

For today I chose Todd McShay, a member of ESPN's created expert-panel SCOUTS, INC.  Check out his MOCK DRAFT.

As for the Broncos, McShay has the following -

21. Denver (9-7)

Projected pick: Daymeion Hughes, CB, Cal

The tragic passing of Darrent Williams will force the Broncos to re-evaluate their personnel needs this offseason.

First, the Broncos have decent depth at CB, even with the loss of Williams.  Sure, they may need to pick a guy up later in the draft or FA, but with our first round pick???  Then, you add to the equation that he has a guy from Cal and McShay needs to get his head examined.  Hmmm, the last time the Broncos drafted a corner from Berkeley, it didn't turn out so well.  Call me crazy, but I think this is a stretch to say the least, though Hughes did win the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2006.  Here is his PLAYER PROFILE.

Please feel free to add your comments about Hughes, and again, if you find a Mock, post it in the Diary Section!
