A year that was suppose to be glorious in Denver has fallen into a bitter less taste that I cant seem to get out of my mouth. An offseason filled with pain in which 2 players on the rise had died but Denver did not lose all hope. The Broncos went out and made some good free agent signings and block buster trades. In the draft they filled their biggest need on the Defensive Line. They hired a defensive coach who had a good track record. They also hired a new special teams coach. All looked good in Denver heading into training camp. Then the unthinkable happen, a plague arose and just like that we had been hit by the injury bug. They lost Ben Hamilton, Ebenezer Ekuban, and Rod Smith for the year before they had taken a regular season snap. Then their newly acquired running back decides to get caught with marijuana in his system which would loom him in the weeks to come not to mention knee issues. After two squek by wins they were off to a 2-0 start. Everything looked okay but things were still not clicking and just like that they were 2-3 following a blow out lost to a division foe on home turf. Not to mention star reciever Javon Walker was to miss a handful of games due to knee surgery. Also starting center (the heart and soul of the O-Line) Tom Nalen was out for the year. Things did not look good at the moment. Defense was playing horrible, Special Teams looked like a high school team, and the offense could not score Touchdowns. But somehow they came off the bye week on Sunday night and upset a very good Steeler team and were now 3-3. Then just like that they were 3-5 with an OT lost followed by another blowout. Future star QB Jay Cutler nearly broke his leg and first round pick Jarvis Moss had shut it down for the year with a broken fibula. THenry was hurting but still no suspension. The team was in a hole but somehow with the young talent they won 2 straight and were back in the hunt at 5-5. Tied in first place with an easy schedule all looked promising. But for some odd reason they decided to kick to devin hester in the second half and gave the game away. At 5-6 hope was not all lost. But down by four points with five minutes left a Jake Plummer type throw cost us the game and were now two games back at 5-7. Still not eliminated you and I both know this team will not make the playoffs whether they win or lose out I find myself still feeling good inside. Why you say? It is the young guys on this team that make me smile. They young guys that will grow together as a unit and bring us back to glory once more. Guys like DJ william, Jay Cutler, Tony Scheffler, Brandon Marshall, Selvin Young, Andre Hall, Elvis Dumervil, Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder, Marcus Thomas, Dominique Foxworth, Karl Paymah, Hamza Abdullah, Glenn Martinez, and Ryan Harris. These young players, hoping and praying we keep them all, will grow together to become and elite unit. It may not be next year of the year after that but I feel these young players will take us to glory once more. This year is a down year but with the future hall of famers Rod Smith, Tom Nalen, Matt Lepsis, John Lynch and Jason Elam followed by veterans like stokley, Champ, Dre, Walker, Gold, Webster, and Ekuban teaching these young players the Broncos way we will return to the top one day I say Bronco Fans one day.
