MHR To Count Down 'Em Down!!

With the draft rapidly approaching, the MHR is getting into the spirit by counting down the 25 Greatest Broncos Draftees of All Time!  Starting tomorrow, I will count down the Top 25 players picked by the Broncos in any part of the draft, whether it be a compensatory pick, a pick in the Supplemental draft, or regular draft pick.

Remember, this is for Broncos draft picks, so John Elway will not make the list.  I encourage all of you to let me know your thoughts after each is revealed, and feel free to give me your input!

Hopefully this will help us kill the time before the draft, still some seven weeks away.

Value at #21?
Personally, I thought #21 would be devoid of value for us, but things have changed.  A lackluster Combine and the depth of the WR class have made it possible for either or both Reggie Nelson and Ted Ginn Jr. to fall to us.  I know that neither guy plays DL and that's worrisome, but Nelson would solidify our defensive backfield to the point of being ridiculous and Ginn might be worth his paycheck returning kicks, let alone stretching the field from the slot.  If we can get one of those guys, that's be a great start to the draft.  We'll have to gamble later on (boom-or-bust types like DT Marcus Thomas and DE Quentin Moses with our next two picks?) to address our DL, but we should be guided by value over need at #21 in the first.

No Way...
value over need is round 2-4....  Unless someone AMAZING drops, but that's not going to happen... We have no business considering drafting a kick returner with our first round pick when we have such glaring needs.  Carriker it is!

And
Floyd Little (1967) needs to be in the top 10.

Here Are A Few.
Terrell Davis (196th pick overall in the 1995 draft) and Shannon Sharpe (192nd player taken in the 1990 draft) probably provided the most "bang for buck" considering where we took them.  I was aso a HUGE Steve Atwater fan (20th pick in the 1989 draft) so I'd like to see him up there.

I weigh in with...
Karl Mecklenberg in the 12th round.
