Broncos @ Bills -- Fourth Quarter Open Thread

     @

BILLS SEVENTH DRIVE cont.

--A big third down greets the teams as they return to the field for the final quarter...
--Great play by Champ Bailey, who battled through a hold to make the play on Lynch.

BRONCOS EIGHTH DRIVE

--Another great play by the Bills special teams who have clearly been the difference so far today...
--Another Broncos injury, this time to Javon Walker who clearly got his bell rung, getting the Broncos near a first down...
--The referees get it right, but it still doesn't explain to me what Cutler was thinking...
--I guess I was wrong....It's an incomplete pass and the Broncos will be faced with a 2nd and 10. Lost in all that is another inaccurate pass by Cutler to Young, who was wide open...
--Broncos starting to take command of the line of scrimmage...
--Nice job by Young, making the catch, regaining his balance and geeting another first down...I was afraid of that. Young looked like he had dropped that ball, and now we'll find out...It looked ok to me....We'll see.
--A rare instance, when both offenses remain on the field...What the hell was Cutler thinking on that one???
--The Bills are really coming hard off the edge. Cutler has very little time...

BILLS EIGHTH DRIVE

--Roscoe Parrish reminds me alot of Dante Hall back there on punt returns...
--Defense has to come up big again....
--A big third down again, and I hope the Broncos aren't surprised if the Bills run a delay here...
--Another horrible job of tackling by the Broncos defense, made worse by the 15 yard penalty...The Broncos have done a miserable job of tackling today...
--Here we go again....3rd and long for the Broncos defense.
--Bills look content to punt the ball and pin the Broncos deep. Cutler needs to come up huge now...

BRONCOS NINTH DRIVE

--The 15 yard penalty will help out as the Broncos take the ball looking for the lead....
--A nice drive ends when Elam misses his 2nd field goal of the day... Play for the field goal and that's what happens....

BILLS NINTH DRIVE

--Bills trying to run the clock out, but running out of bounds is not what the Bills had in mind...Big third down...
--Not by much, but Losman over-throws Evans and the Broncos will get yet another chance....

BRONCOS TENTH DRIVE

--A penalty will force the Bills to punt again. The Bills have been excellent on special teams and will need to be again....
--A difference of 21 yards because of the penalty...Cutler will have 2 timeouts, 2:13, and needs only a field goal...
--A bad time for Henry to go down, and for a holding penalty...The Broncos need to be clean from here on out...
--Another bad play by Cutler, and the Broncos need to get with him and stop these types of plays....
--The Broncos get the first down, but now time becomes a factor...The Broncos stand at mid-field, a minute to go, no timeouts remaining...
--The weather becoming an issue...3rd and long....again....
--Another great job by Buffalo tackling and forcing the Broncos into another 4th down...
--The Broncos convert again, and now are on the fringe of Elam's range. The Broncos need to get as close as they can....
--The Broncos get the first down and have to rush the field goal unit on....With 2 seconds left on the clock, Elam strikes the ball and it's.........GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! DENVER WINS!!!! DENVER 15 - BUFFALO 14!!!
--I am out of breath...my voice hoarse....my shirt torn and on the ground. What a frickin' football game and what a job by Jason Elam, shaking off 2 misses to hit the game winner giving the Broncos a hard fought, 15-14 win, and the opening day drought is over, the Broncos are 1-0!!!

Can't settle for 3
Need to punch this in for a TD and make Buffalo have to get in the end zone to win.  (But we better make sure we get at least 3)

Gah
I can't take this. I'm a Cubs fan and we have to deal with Dempster.

augh my throat
(goosebumps)

SO that was quite the way to kick off the season. Denver needed this win in such a bad way, especially after doing pretty well on offense and only giving up one defensive touchdown.

I don't have TiVo so I can't relive that moment, but if my memory serves me right...

Javon should have picked up that first down right before the field goal, right?

Couldn't they have spiked it? Oh well. Regardless, it was an epic win. I need to get some throat lozenges now..

Phew!
Just don't do it like this every week.

Shanahan misread that last play
He said he thought Javon was a yard short of the first down which is why they did not try to spike the ball.  But it all worked out so I'm not complaining.  But at least it answered that question for me.  At the time, I was pretty shocked they did not spike the ball.

Not a great performance, but a great win.

Unbelievable - CBS sucks
Just watched their highlights of the Bronco game during the national postgame show.  They showed Edwards hit/injury on Hixon twice and then cut to the snap of the game winning FG.  They couldn't even show the full 18 seconds.  (I heard it on Internet radio and it was exciting, but I want to see it while I am still on this high)

YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Praise Jebus. Way to pull it out of the fire gentlemen. Jason if you missed the last one you would be walking back, but I should not doubt you.

Travis nice job.

Javon - great job

Heads up Selvin, the penalty was worth keeping the ball.

D - Great job, holding the Bills under 200 yards

Special Teams - Not so special today. Sure the Bills have great specialty teams, but still.

And the QB was alright. . .

We so needed that from Cutler. Jay is not #7 and he may never be, but at the end Jay did not fold and show why he was worth the pick.  to go, but  Now just fix the Special Teams and this team can be a factor come Jan.

YESSSSSSSSSS

Broncos win, Broncos win!

Go Bronocs

YEEEEEAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
I'll take it.  How in the heck did they get that kick off?!?  That was a-mazing.  I'm not sure a kick could be more exciting.  And if you're Buffalo, what a letdown.
