Broncos 15 - Bills 14 -- A Win Is A Win, No Matter How It Looked

The Broncos are 1-0.  That's all that matters.  It was ugly at times, it was unwatchable at times, and at times it looked hopeless, but the Broncos found a way, a way to get the W, a way to gut out a tough road win.

I'll have alot more about the game, but here are a couple things to chew on --

First, the final drive, which saw a little bit of everything from Jay Cutler -- the good, the bad and the ugly --

And a look at the final numbers.  I can't even to begin to think about what this week would have been like had the Broncos lost despite dominating just about every statistical category --

Talk about it here!!!

Wow
when Elam missed, I thought to myself 'Man, I wished we had John Elway back. It's over'

Fortunately, Losman's inability to throw a pass to Evans saved us.

A punt, a couple bad plays, then it reminded you of John. When Cutler got the ball back, you just knew Elam was going to be back in the game again.

Now, I'm not crowning him as the next Elway, I'm just saying all the tools are there.

Another thing
I'm not going to be able to take this 16 games a year. I'm a Cubs fan and if you follow baseball, you know what Carlos Zambrano and Ryan Dempster are like.

That said, I think that neither team won this game, the difference was in the quarterbacks.

Need more
Special teams were horrible.  They won despite the special teams.  Lack of kick coverage and missed field goals killed them.  If a team puts up 470 yards and only puts up 15 points, that's a huge problem.  They are going to have to punch into the end zone much more.  The defense was OK, but lots of missed tackles.  They are a long way from being an upper echelon contender.  Hope they are better next week.  It's critical to dominate at home.  Faders may suck, but they can't be taken lightly.

Best stat from Sunday
Broncos 1-0.

As for the Special Teams, Elam should not be as bad as was during the first 59:58. But these coverage teams maybe the death of this team.

The O still has some work to do. Less 3's and more 7's

The D still rough around the edges, but giving up less than 200 yards on the road is a good sign.

Now they need to build on this and give the Raiders a beat down.

Go Bronocs

Good, Bad, Ugly
GOOD

Take a look at how Cutler spread the ball around.  All three WRs and our TE got at least 3 receptions.  We haven't seen that in years!

Travis Henry will get his 1500 yards.  (You'll get one of your locks, Guru)

The Secondary shutting down Lee Evans.

BAD

Only one touchdown.  Our red zone play calling has been terrible.  I can understand if Plummer was still playing, but why were we running on 3rd & 4 at the 5 yard line?

UGLY

Special teams.  We can't afford to lose field position battle to good teams.  Clearly Paul Ernstner was not the only problem.

Elam
still shouldn't give heart attacks like that.

I think I just got done crapping myself.

Any body got any throat losenges?
