Phillip Rivers Defined
This definitely won't be the most high-brow thing I've ever linked to, but, hell, it's hilarious. Here's an excerpt

It's almost a cross between "guy who got picked on when he was little" and "angry drunken frat guy". After discussing this with some friends yesterday, it has been decided that one words fit Rivers to a T.

I'm in a tough spot.
My rule was to root for the AFC team in the SB (unless it was oak). But this year I'll be rooting for GB, followed by NYG, followed by SD.
I think the best teams to win though are NE, followed by SD, followed by GB. Perhaps the injuries to Rivers and LT will slow down SD, though I think their defense is better than many people think.
I wish there was some way both AFC teams could lose the AFC title game this year. I want NE to lose because if they don't we'll have to hear from them for decades to come.
There would be some sweet poetic justice if Favre led the Pack against either NE or SD and won in his final game. I don't blame Favre for the love he gets from the media (even though it is so excessive).
Besides TB when they played oak, I'll be cheering for an NFC team to upset for the second time in this young century. What crazy times we live in!

You make a great point
I don't know if the '72 Fins would shut up if their record was matched though, and I don't know if I want another team bragging for the next three decades either. It's a tough call.

I'm rooting for the Giants from
Besides, I go to school in New York, and the Giants are a (distant) second in terms of football teams I like.

I'd like to see...
Guru makes a good point about shutting up the braggart '72 Phins, and I agree for the most part (he doesn't share my dislike for the Pats). But my only qualm is that I don't think a Pats victory in the SB will shut them up. They'll welcome the Pats to the table, and still claim to be the "first". Then we'll have the Pats bragging that they were second, but did it by having to win more games and doing it during the free agency / cap era of "parity". Both teams will be hard to live with.
BTW, I think parity is a myth. We still have teams that stay on top for awhile, and teams that stay in the basement. The only variable added in the mix is that the teams with great offseason minds are more important now.
