The Guru and Friends Predict Week 6

Each year, I have given my thoughts and expertise a run for their money by publicly making my picks for each game every week. To add a twist, the fine contributors of MileHighReport have agreed to do the same, along with my lovely wife, with the winner laying claim to the Title of "Best Game Picker On MHR Until Next Year..." or something like that.

My thanks to Styg50, HoosierTeacher, Zappa, MDierk and Melissa for agreeing to partake in a little bit of fun.  Without further ado, the picks --

Houston

Zap, I’m surprised you’re the only one picking the Texans this week. I’m thinking they are way overdue to win, they’re better than their record, and I’m not a big believer in Miami yet. Good call.

Or so I'm told.

by MN Bronco on Oct 10, 2008 9:03 AM MDT up reply actions

I agree. Miami was 1-15 last year and I am sure they are all full of themselves right now and over confident....

perfect spot for a surprise punk slap by a winless team. lol And Houston is easily the most balanced winless team out there…they are seconds away from a winning record on the season. Bad luck ends this week!

Besides, it is in Houston

and like you I don’t think the talent the Texans have will be winless for too long. Also, that Wildcat formation is going to get stoppped sometime.

Not me...caught up here. :P

No doubt, I’ll be keeping an eye on her this week. HT and Mdierk are no slouches either.

styg and TSG have some work to do...but two good weeks and they'd be back in the thick.

but thanks for the kudos!

I don't

but then again, I’m not picking here. In my other pools, I’ve got NE big!

Not everyone.

Mrs. Guru and I (two of the three current leaders) lean towards NE.

Probably because they are at home.

Despite that and no Brady, I see SD have a tough time with this one considering their injuries and the way their o-line looked against Miami. The Pats offense is starting to look pretty good with Cassel back there.

For just this week: GO PATS!

I dont see SD

winning. I just dont. They are circling the drain, and I think NE will flush them on Sunday. Sd is hurt, their OL suck, LT is hurt and isnt nowhere the same kid, Gates is beat up, Chambers is out. Tucker is out, Cromartie (OVERRATED) will be abused by Moss. I cant see SD winning outside of NE giving the game away. I dont think will be that close. For the record I think you guys are giving ATL to much credit. They have not beaten a team with a winning record yet

Zap and I wisely chose Da Bears to beat ATL.

I also see eye to eye with you on SD’s chances (as does Mrs. Guru).

I have your back on the picks bfsisd!

NO defense may be bad

but they still have jafraud Russell as their QB. I cant pick them unless they are playing KC

Styg's pick may be due to his brilliant mind.

But in the case of Oakland, I think Styg is showing himself as a man of grace (in the theological sense).

The Raiders may be depraved, but only through the undeserved charity of Styg’s pick do they have hope.

I am already wishing I had picked Arizona and Seattle....my gut feeling is telling me too.

I’ll just have to live with changing to those picks in my money league. I really just need Houston, Chicago, and Baltimore and I’ll at least break even. ;-)

Your DAL and GB picks are solid.

After all, I picked them too (as did Mrs. Guru, who looks to embarass us "experts")

I deserve some extra credit! lol

She's the one I fear the most.

It never failed… When I was teaching and coaching, we had a pool for NFL games. Did the coaches ever win at the end of the year? NEVER! It was always some art teacher or something. Major blow to the male ego! I have little doubt that Melissa is going to win this thing.
