The Broncos are a paper tiger

According to Tom E. Curran of NBC Sports the Broncos are the most overrated team in the NFL followed closely by the NY Football Giants. The basis of his opinion is that Denver has really not played anybody any good. He rates the Jaguars as vastly underrated due to the fact they have played a much tougher schedule. He predicts Jacksonville will do much better in the weeks after their bye. See HERE for the article. I sure hope our team reads this thoroughly prior to the game on Sunday.

 GO BRONCOS!!

Thanks DesertBroncoFan and EastCostBronco

It worked when I edited it and then I must have blown it up. I hope this piece finds it’s way to the Bronco bullitin board.

That's fine

Keep under-rating Denver, the problem with the NFL is there really is a slim margian from being a good team to being a bad team, I can understand that people don’t think the Broncos are that good, but it is a 16-game season and getting a win is a lot harder than people make it out to be. I go by the Parcell’s says, “You are what your record is.”, that being the case then Denver is a playoff and 1st place team until proven otherwise.

I agree.

I rather like it that way. We’ll just sneak up on everybody. Also, I have never really paid too much attention to whether people predict us to do well or not.

I hope they read it also

But this is exactly the type of hype I like right now.

Let the sportswriters and league keep underestimating us as our young team continues to mature and improve.

What confuses me is...

that while we get no credit for beating the Chargers, the same author lists them as a sleeping lion…….

by dpurvis on Oct 10, 2008 1:13 PM MDT reply actions

This is why people laugh at mainstream sportswriters.

NYGs no good? Defending SB champions and still undefeated this year. DEN no good? 4-1, including a victory over the (mainstream endorsed) team favored to be SB champs this year.

Tom Curran's opinion is pretty worthless

He’s really just some guy. Of course, I write analysis, and I am just some guy, too, but I actually watch just about every game from start to finish. I’ve read him before, and I have no idea how he calls himself an Insider. He is just a guy who probably couldn’t diagram something really basic, like a cover-2 defense, if his life depended on it.

I highly value Tom Curren's opinion though.

Michael Fabiano really knows nothing about football outside of regression analysis and stat extrapolation. If it doesn’t have to do with fantasy football, his opinion is worthless.

by kwool79 on Oct 10, 2008 3:02 PM MDT up reply actions

Really? I'm really surprised by that

Is there some redeeming virtue in him that I don’t see?

And you trash him in your sig. What is so valued about this DB?

not Tom Curran. I’m guessing kwool is a surfer, or a fan of great surfing.

Haha

I didn’t know Tom Curren, becaust I live in Cleveland, and Lake Erie doesn’t get too many surfable waves.

Hmm...bastard stole my line.

It’s funny, because preseason the Broncos were expected to lose to the Chargers, Saints, and Buccaneers….hell, they were even expected to lose to the Raiders. lol

The Giants are overrated as Super Bowl CHAMPIONS?

Stats are misleading…The Cowboys and Chargers are right behind the Broncos in points given up. This story is a bunch of bullcrap. We’ve beaten 3 PLAYOFF teams from 2007….Jaguars have beaten ONE PLAYOFF TEAM FROM 2007. Hogwash bullcrap spewed from a dingus.

I sent him this email. heheheheh
You are a dingus. The Broncos have beaten 3 Playoff Teams from 2007…the Jags have beaten ONE. You are making comparisons to last seasons starts, but then for this season you are comparing what exactly? What is the combined record of the teams the Jags have beaten this year? Oh…that would be 2-2 and 0-4. The Broncos? 1-3, 2-3, 2-3, and 3-2. How does your argument hold any weight? What should I expect from an MSNBC hack like yourself… shouldn’t you be following Obama around like the rest of your colleagues?

I am bad. >:-)

The Ultimate Paper Tigers

are the Chargers…“The most talented team” “The most complete team” “Even without Merriman, should win the AFC West team.” Year in and year out we hear about how good they are. It irritates the heck out of me. IMO, other “Paper Tigers” should include the Cowboys, Steelers and Vikings.

On the other hand, I’m glad that the Broncos are being viewed as overrated. Gives them much more incentive to go out and prove the critics wrong.

Steelers

I agree about the Steelers. I don’t know how they are 4-1 with their terrible line. I told my friend who is a Steeler fan that his team is going to load up on O-line in the draft like we will load up on D.

Speaking of Media Opinions...

What do any of you locals think about Scott Hastings and Alred Williams?

Personally, I thought the Altitude Sports Summit Pro Football Edition (my fingers are tired from typing that title) was much better including Alfred and sans Mark Jackson.

Any other shows I should be watching? Remember I live in Texas, but I have DirecTV, the Sunday Ticket and the FSN sports package.

Sorry about getting off topic…

Alfred

was a great player for both the Buffs and Broncos. I was glad he won titles in the denver area. I really like Williams and Hastings. I will always rememer hastings as being the color guy next to Logan whne Denver won the Super Bowl. Plus Alfred has good insight into the Broncos
