MHR Conference?
I was just listening to the podcast of the 10-08 Broadcast of MHR Radio. Toward the end of the show, the Guru mentioned in passing about an MHR Conference. My immediate thought was "Why not?"
The obvious place would be in Denver, and I would say during the first or second week of Training Camp in August 2009.
Here's some ideas:
It would be a three day event that would cover Fri-Sunday. It would need to be on a weekend that we could visit camp as a group when they have a practice on Saturday. We could make a deal with a Southeast Hotel near Dove Valley for a discount rate for out of towners and use of a Conference Room on Saturday night.
Itinerary:
Friday Evening: Meet and greet at a local Restaurant with a Brewery or pub attached. (War Stories / Fellowship and a good time)
Sat Morning : Meet for breakfast and on to Dove Valley for practice. Usually Saturday's have only one practice (morning)
Sat Afternoon: Group Tour of Invesco Field for MHR
Sat Evening: Dinner at the Hotel Convention room / Guest of Honor (former Broncos players) Show Film highlights of old Broncos games / Historic / Crackerbarrel at the bar. Presentations such as MHR University
Sunday late morning / mid day BBQ & ??
This is a very possible can do. Depending on the kind of support / attendance, the room at the Hotel could be over budget if not enough people came. I which case, a local establishment with a smaller meeting room could be arranged where an overhead video could still be shown. These are just a few ideas and an event that I believe we should make happen.
I've had some experience coordinating things like this and would volunteer to head up a committe in Denver to make it happen. Let me know your thoughts

The Sports Guru will be heading this up with what looks like a committee in Denver to handle Logistics. Stay Posted. Guru will be addressing this soon.

I brought up this idea during a phone conference.
We could also have presentations by different members of the staff (like a live MHR University or a live Broncos History), panel discussions, Q&As, contests, etc.
I would definitely take the time for such an endeavor.

Thats excellent HT
The wednesday show was the first that I heard of the idea. I’m sure that we could put together a weekend that nobody will want to miss.

I would come all the way from Alaska for it!
It is an excellent idea and Diehard you would be an outstanding event coordinator. I would like to get to meet some of the characters on this site.

Count me in!!!
Great Idea, I would also be interested in serving on a committee.

I work in Conference & Training Services at a major University.....
it is definitely possible. There would have to be a registration fee though to cover the costs of the convention room and such…we could set up a group discount with the hotel as well so we could get reduced rates to stay at the hotel. Lots of ways to minimize costs. :)

Most hotels
will throw in the meeting rooms at no charge if the bar tab is big enough. For some reason I don’t think that will be a problem for this group.

I can definitely help with that
Let’s get this thing together. I would absolutely be there. My only suggestion would be to include a 1/2 day kayaking, rafting or fly fishing trip on the Arkansas or maybe another river closer to Denver. (I have only been on the Arkansas).
Playoff bound!
try the white or eagle river....it does tend to rage at that time of year

I've heard those are highly technical waters
I’ve only been fly fishing 4 times. I might be ready for it though. I almost went to the “Dream Stream” , the section of the South Platte between Spinney and Eleven Mile last year. Those are GM waters as well, but decided on the Arkansas again.
Playoff bound!
I want to visit Treasure Falls on Wolf Creek Pass.

They didn't allow it back then either.
You weren’t supposed to do it, but it wasn’t enforced. A friend of mine and I tried to get all the way to Pueblo once, but there was a small dam that messed up our trip. (Long story, but I would be willing to share it at the MHR conference!)

That'd be awesome!
I could maybe do that if I could get to Denver for a weekend. Hopefully we could do it on a day that I don’t have football camp. And it would have to be before the 20th; that’s when I start school. Does anyone know the exact dates of training camp for next year? They probably haven’t made them up yet, but if they have…
But no on the brewery. Lol, I’ll only be 17.
4-1.
I won't be able to do it until next year anyways....2009

Definitely something to think about
My son and I were planning on going to Denver next summer to catch a Rockies series and I was planning on doing it during training camp so that we could catch some practice.
This would be too cool. Only problem is that my son will only be 13, so he and papigrande will have to find something to do while the big boys go drinkin’!

I’d bring my family along. Maybe I could come up with a seminar for kids while the adults do the “adult” thing.

In fact,
I could do a seminar on football for spouses who don’t understand / appreciate the game. It could focus on how to enjoy the game, either from understanding the basics or how to find things in common about wathcing the game together (cooking together, etc).

I know we can do it Styg
I’d like to see some more support on this thread, and get it recommended so it stays up on the “Recommended Fanposts” so we can get the word out.
To begin, I would like the blessing of the MHR Staff to head up the committee. Any other and all MHR members that will support me, I would appreciate hearing from them as well. If another member is interested in heading this thing, I would welcome them to speak up and be heard with comments on the thread.
To ease any uncertainy, here are a few of my qualifications: By Trade, I am a Facility Engineer for a Defense Contractor in the Denver Area. I live in Aurora, and have been here all my life.
I have been involved with the Denver Area Boy Scouts for 20 years as a Volunteer. As a District BSA Rep, I have organized over a half dozen major events (mostly 3 days each) in which over 1000 – 1500 adults and youth participated in, so I have delt with large numbers of participants. I also set up a conference for the Scouts on Stamps Society in Denver, which is very similar to what we want to do.
Also, and most importanly, I know many, many people in the area, that I can use as resources. Along with the many MHR members that get on the committee, I know it will be a diverse group with plenty of talent. We can make this an event that we will never soon forget.
The Fanposts will be used as a way of updating the MHR Community and also recruiting. My wheels are turning already. All I need is a green light along with your comments.
You may wish to email me directly which is on my home page, or: Jlcozart@msn.com
Thanks for your interest and support

Sent email to a Bills fan friend earlier this week about that game
His email response said “unfortunately I will be in Aruba” :)
Unfortunately, I cannot afford to make that trip on my own. I have a 2 for 1 voucher on Delta which made a trip for two much more reasonable. So if there is anyone reading this who want to fly out of Newark Airport for the game, get in touch :)
We need to plan for a training camp time...
and have at least a year of advance notice so people can plan for it (I’m thinking). A game this year is pretty short notice.

If I pray hard enough for a snow day. Listen to this retardedness: My Christmas break starts on the 23rd, which means I have a half day on Monday the 22nd. Normally I would say “screw the school” and our stupid Candlelighting ceremony (we light a bunch of candles and go home. It’s lame.) but I have a final on that morning, which meand that I would have to leave on the 22nd to go visit my grandma in Denver for Christmas. I hate my school.
Actually, maybe if I begged Headmaster Bateman (Dr. Bateman, my principal) enough, she’d let me reschedule. Hmmm, somethingto look into, at least.

Like I said, everything is up in the air—at least until the new year starts.

Purple Row - Covering all your Rockies needs!
Well...
It depends on the scheduling of course, but instead of dinner on friday everyone could go to a Rockies game. Aren’t the rock-pile seats in CF really cheap? I’m pretty sure they were $5 last time I was able to get to a game (a couple of years ago). The Nuggets and the Avs will both be in the offseason, so they aren’t an option, but those games are a lot of fun as well. I went to a Nuggets game last time I was in the area skiing and had a heck of a lot of fun.
What would the time-frame be?
I’ll have to work it in between an internship and the start of the semester, but if it’s before classes start I’d love to make it out there. It would be a heck of a lot of fun to finally meet a bunch of you guys, and going to camp would be the icing on the cake.
I could probably swing it as long as it was in August, but if it were earlier I might have trouble making it. Regardless, this is a great idea, and I’d love to see what you are able to come up with DD – it sounds like you are more than qualified.
