JAC @ DEN - Taking care of business
Good morning MHR,
While a lot of analysts and experts still believe Jacksonville is the team they were last year, we are having no such thoughts. Moreover, although we have picked Denver to win some of their games by a pretty wide margin only to see them squeeze out a victory, we aren't backing off the potential our system sees in them.
JAC @ DEN
Our line: Denver by 18
This is matchup that we like for Denver. The team has a pass first mentality and should find themselves with plenty of big play opportunities against Jacksonville, who is currently giving up 7.8 yards per reception. The Jags have struggled covering receivers in general but more so against the number three WR and have really struggled covering RBs coming out of the backfield. If Cutler is willing to spread things around this should make a big day for Stokley, Scheffler, and likely Pittman. On Jacksonville's side our system does show some opportunities for their rush attack to have success against the Denver line, but that line showed some signs of improvement last week and also looks very comfortable playing at home. Jacksonville just makes too many mistakes and presents too many opportunities to Denver's offense for them to have much of a chance at pulling off the road upset.
ITN rankings:
- Denver #7
- Jacksonville #22

I think your line is too much and Scheffler is injured.....
Daniel Graham and Nate Jackson will have to pick up the slack. This game will not be easy. The Jags are injured and desperate.

Hmmm
Yes we somehow missed that Scheffler was ruled out, thanks for the info. Still, we don’t his absence will undermine Denver’s chances of having a big day throwing the football.
You’re right, the Jags are injured and desperate, but that can just as often be a bad thing for a team as it is a good thing. Until proven different, we think the Jags are on the darker side and are in for a rough game this Sunday.

sancho---I love your enthusiasm!!! I really do!!
and you may be right!
Unfortunately the jags and us have a different history. When I made my pre-season picks I had this a loss for us. I hope I am wrong and that you are right.
Jacksonville has a way of coming into our house and making it their house—don’t know why this is—no other team has done this—but somehow they do.
The other thing that worries me is our situations—it is very similar to what we had faced in KC. There we faced young and ‘desperate-for-something-positive-to-happen-team’ and we all know what happened. Young and desperate team beat young and over-confident team badly.
This week we face a very good, very well coached team that has lost some very close games. I’ve noticed that some of the ‘so-called-experts’ are beginning to look at us as pretenders—great start—no chance of finish. This game will let us know where we are at.
Very good, very well-coached team with some hard losses under their belt……against a very young team that has shown some signs of brilliance and been lucky………….twice.
If we win this game Silverbloods’ ‘Orange and Blue Koolaide Man avatar’ will be back.
might even try to get back to la-la-land again.
The best defense is a good offense!
I hope.

My bottom line.
If Jax plays the way they have been, we win in a blow out. If Jax plays to their level of talent, the game can be very close. I think Jax actually controls the destiny of this game. Denver has plusses and minuses, but are pretty much playing well and poorly consistently in each area of the game. Jax is very volatile as a team overall.

Regroup
Unfortunately we were quite wrong about this game today, but much like the Broncos themselves, all you can do is regroup and get ready for next week. Enjoy your week all, well see you next weekend.
