A Brandon Marshall story I never heard before
We have all heard the stories about Brandon Marshall's off field troubles. But I came across something today that I had never heard about before and I was hoping someone here would be able to fill me in with the details. There was an article in the Orlando Sentinel about the relationship between Marshall and Jags WR Mike Walke, who played and roomed together at UCF. It was a nice piece, but nothing special until I saw this quote
When Marshall took in his young sister's son, Walker helped watch him, too.
I have never heard anything about this before. It sounds like it shows a different side of Brandon than the public has seen. Anyone heard about this or know more? (Assuming the details are public of course. I don't want to intrude on the Marshall family's privacy).

They’ve always put pressure on each other, competing in everything on the field and off. Once they tried to figure out who was the better basketball player and ended up having to settle it with a wrestling match.
wrestling seems to be a common thing in his past :)

Brandon is also heavily involved...
..in helping school children in the Denver area. He’s doing great work there.

I am very glad to see this story. Thanks Matt.
That’s ok with me. We’re playing for wins, not media publicity....HT 9/11/08

It would be nice
If stories like this on Brandon got as much press as the negative stories about him. But then again the Denver press doesnt care if he is put into a good light

Well...
There have been good stories about Brandon in the local press. I’ve read at least two on the work he does with school kids. I think Brandon’s behavior has some impact on the press he gets. Now that he’s doing good things, his past is less important and his current deeds are out in front. It’s kind of hard to blame the press for reporting the stupid things that Brandon was mixed up in. That’s their job.

true
But when the reports are like 5:1 bad to good. Especially when the reporting on bad things he did was months old. I am just saying the Denver press is lazy and goes for negative stories over good stories. Its not limited ot Marshall, its overall. Then the papers wonder why they are losing cash

Fair enough.
Of course, a few months ago, Brandon was involved in bad things by about a five to one margin. With his star status on the field, his suspension behind him, and the great work he is doing in the community, I think the bad news is finally behind him. As long as Marshall stays on the straight and narrow, he’s not giving the press any room to go after him. I’m proud of the hard work Brandon has put in to repair his image, and proud of the team for standing with him.
