Josh Barrett???

I know that a bunch of you are really high on Safety Josh Barrett, as I am.  He seems to have size, incredible speed and quickness and can hit hard...so I've read.  I know that he's on the practice squad.  But, does anyone know why???  I think that Barrett and Lowry would make a good tandem.  Not great but good.  Last week Manuel and McCree seemed to be having a lot of trouble with both, the run and the pass.  Does anyone have answers?  Mahalo!

I don't know

He seemed to get banged up a couple times in preseason. I don’t know if this had anything to do with his being on the practice squad or if he just needs to develop more. I think it is the development thing but I’m not sure. I never heard anything about a long term injury.

The player who thinks he can and the player who knows he can are two different players, which one are you???

Broncos don't want to pick unripened fruit

perhaps they want them to develop more. It’s always tempting to throw all the young guns in and see what happens, but right now the coaches think Manuel and McCree give us a better chance to win. I’m willing to wait a little bit longer. I think what we’d all like to hear, is how he’s developing. Not sure if local sports guys ask about that….

Lowry has moved ahead of McCree....

There are moves in the safetys, with reprts Lowry ahs moved ahead of McCree. I cant believe we are sticking with Manuel…..sheez, play McCree and Lowry…..and if you are going to play Manuel than I would rather see us blood the yopung and let Josh Barrett play….at least let him play Special Teams if Lowry moves into the starting position….some of the defebsive selctions leave my mind boggled…..at line backer, corner back and safety….I am not sure what the coaches are thinking!!!

Right now Manuel is the coverage safety

Who comes up to the line on occassion to take the TE. I am not sure if Barrett is better suited for that role or for the free safety spot. If I had to guess, I think McCree lost his job on the MJD run last week where McCree took a bad angle and got outrun to the end zone. Lowry is supposed to be quite speedy.

I do agree that the defense has me confused – the roster moves, the player rotations and the play calls. It seems like Slowick is still feeling things out and trying to see what he has and what they can do. I have all sorts of random thoughts and observations from watching the defense (and rewatching some games focusing on that side of the ball), but I don’t have any coherent conclusions.

Lowry has been playing well

and looks like a safety out there. If the Broncos are committed to keeping the plays in front of them then they need speed and discipline back there. McCree has proven DaBolts right when it comes to speed (he is slow), and he is overcompensating with his bad decisions.

Even f we only pull him for a game, I think it would be for the best. he needs to get ethe desperation out of his system and play like a safety…

Wasn't Barrett the one

who’s wife had a baby right after his niece died?

That happened at the start of Training Camp, so maybe he hasn’t caught on as quickly as they would like.

I think that was Larsen.

I couldn't remember which it was

but Larsen does sound right.

Now

If Barrett was ready in the coaches eyes he would be on the active roster, and seeing that he is still on the PS no other team so far thinks he is developed to a point that he can take a spot from someone. So I will have to respect what Shanny and Slo think right now about him. Who knows maybe next season he will be a player that plays a lot

One issue

I don’t know how good he will be. But I would like to see him used correctly when or if he does get a start. Let him play deep zone, let him play across from another deep zone cover safety, give him an adequate pass rush with the guys up front, and let the CBs play man. (I know, I know. I’m a broken record! lol)
