The Guru and Friends Predict -- NFL Week 7
Each year, I have given my thoughts and expertise a run for their money by publicly making my picks for each game every week. To add a twist, the fine contributors of MileHighReport have agreed to do the same, along with my lovely wife, with the winner laying claim to the Title of "Best Game Picker On MHR Until Next Year..." or something like that.
My thanks to Styg50, HoosierTeacher, Zappa, MDierk and Melissa for agreeing to partake in a little bit of fun. Without further ado, the picks --

YOU PICKED THE rAIDERS?!?
Notice my dis-capitalization-ism (is there a word for that?). Jeminy Christmas, styg. At least you picked Buffalo over the dolts.
What happens in Guru’s house after Monday? What will Melissa say after the Broncos beat the Pats? Will Guru have to sleep on the couch? It’s like a freakin’ soap opera. All I know is that I want to be able to quote Shannon Sharpe during the game. “Call in the National Guard, because we are killing the Patriots.” LMAO.
I can’t believe everyone’s so down on Minnesota. Also, watch out for the Bengals upsetting Pittsburgh. Those would be my two against the grain picks if I got to play.
4-2.

my cap of the PIT/CIN game
was 22-19. This is a divisional game, but PIT has played better every week and is coming off a bye. CIN has one thing going for them: desperation. When it comes to those types of games you have to ask whether CIN really feels like it can win this game. If they don’t think they can, then I don’t think they can…
Funny, MIN/CHI I also capped at 19-22. That game could go either way pretty easily.
As far as the faders go, I think they stand a chance against any team in teh bottom half of football right now. THey have one concrete problem (QB play), and a host of abstract problems. The abstract problems are almost 100% self-perpetuated, and have the potential to be sorted out enough to beat a team like the Jets. Not a blowout, but a W nonetheless, at least that is how I see it shaking out….

Raiders and Vikings
I was all set to take the Jets at Oakland, but something kept me stalling, so I took the Raiders. They’re home, real tired of losing, Jets have a long road to get there, and had problems with the Bengals at home, even tho Carson Palmer did not play.
Vikings have a good shot – Bears secondary is in shreds and Frerotte is doing good. Weather is gonna be nice in Chicago.

I pick the Raiders for the same reason.
The game is in Oakland and I just have a feeling that they are going to come out and play tough in this game. Their defense can apply some pressure and with Favre possibly making some bad throws……..I think they have a chance to win.

Favre make some bad throws
like that one toward the end of the game where he just heaved it as far as he could and Meangelo Fail was the only one within 30 yards of it when he picked it off?
And here I put a 15 on the Bretts in my confidence weighted pool!

I picked the Rams
but only as my #3 and I had Miami as my #5. Not one of my better weeks (I fell from first overall in my weighted pool to 5th – ouch!).
And for some reason my picks in the MileHighReport.com pool didn’t take (except TB over Seattle) so I fell from one point out of first to 12th 10 points out. That’s the last time I enter my picks from my CrackBerry!

thanks..
I would also like to say that I jinxed the Chargers by taking them. HT and I jinxed them…I think I’ll have to pick them every week now until the streak is broken.. ;-)

Way to take one for the team!
You were paid back by the rams for your efforts. Good pick on Baltimore too. In hindsight it makes sense: they are who we thoughtthey were!

Minnesota
is vastly overrated. Plus they are a dome team that does struggle outside of an controlled enviornment. I dont think Pitt is going to have much problems with the bengirls. Seeing that Palmer is out probably until November. Plus all you guys will gain a game on Melissa.

But for ...
….14 cheap points the Vikings gave to the Bears, the Vikes would have won.

Bad Melissa....
I change my avatar back to orange-blue Kool Aide man for this game and you give up on the nation (Bronco Nation that is)—I hope I am right.
The best defense is a good offense!
I hope.
