The Beast: Give The Best an "A"
Ken Moll from Scouts Inc. (I heart Scouts Inc., despite their association with ESPN) has a decent discussion of The BeAst's technique and what he'll face with Barber and Tampa Bay.
Intro paragraphs:
The art of the double move is tough to master and often an underestimated skill, but Denver Broncos wide receiver WR Brandon Marshall is one of the best in the league at executing it and he has already made several defenders look bad this season.
Marshall does not have outstanding deep speed but he is an excellent route-runner with great balance and foot agility, and he understands the nuances of the position such as head fakes, changes in speed and the use of strength to gain separation. He is also a matchup nightmare for opposing cornerbacks at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds.

I feel silly responding to my own post
but I’ll be looking for this in the next game:
Marshall is adept at selling his hip and head movement and gearing down slightly with shorter steps to give the illusion that he is cutting a route off, causing the defender to bite up to his hip. Denver QB Jay Cutler does his part by giving a slight shoulder turn or pump-fake to help bait the defender, and Marshall then uses his agility to turn upfield and get behind the defensive back.

again, everyone gets caught up in #'s
40-yard dash times in shorts mean little … the best receivers(and players) this league has ever seen rarely had elite measurables, including speed. steve largent, rod smith, hines ward, ed mccaffrey, chris carter, art monk, jerry rice, well, you get the idea. were any of these guys the fastest players to enter the league? not really, but they were some of the best. b-marsh can join them if he puts his mind to it, and i don’t understand why anyone would be surprised he can get open because he doesn’t have elite speed. there must be some kind of trickery involved. well yes, there is, that’s the game-within-the-game. he’s working hard at it, and it’s only going to get worse for db’s as he gains experience. the only thing receivers should be judged on are: if they are where they’re supposed to be, if they’re open, and if they can catch the ball. blocking ability for this team is also required, but not league-wide. brandon is improving in each area. throw the rest of the stuff out the window. i’m so tired of the chad johnson’s of the league being given all of the accolades. rod smith was more of a receiver than he will ever be. b-marsh is yet another slow receiver who is open and catches everything in his area code. the best kind

One of the fastest Broncos WRs?
The Vance.
Shows what lots of speed can do for you…

I liked Vance Johnson.
He was one of my favorite players at that time, Well other than Elway of course.

My biggest problem with him
was that he was always trying to break for a long run after every catch by running the wrong direction to try to get around the defender. Rarely did it get more than a couple of yards and most of the time it resulted in lost yards after the catch.

BMarsh can move
He is a stud WR and his ability to gain YAC make him even that more dangerous. If defenses don’t have someone on him after he catches the ball the off to the races he goes.
