PrintEach year, I have given my thoughts and expertise a run for their money by publicly making my picks for each game every week. To add a twist, the fine contributors of MileHighReport have agreed to do the same, along with my lovely wife, with the winner laying claim to the Title of "Best Game Picker On MHR Until Next Year..." or something like that.
My thanks to Styg50, HoosierTeacher, Zappa, MDierk and Melissa for agreeing to partake in a little bit of fun. Without further ado, the picks --

I didn’t do any “Upset Picks” this week, because I didn’t really have any. lol
Come on Philly and Pittsburgh! I cannot root for the Chargers, so hopefully they lose.

btw, i finally had a good upset pick week… got all 3 so far (miami, dallas, nyg). i think since i’m doing well, i’m going to play it safe and switch my indy pick to tennessee. =)
i do so poorly, I switched my Ten pick to Indy. lol

It’s a “must-win” scenario for them, Indy is so Dr Jekyl and Hyde, who knows which team will show up, and who knows if Tenn will get complacent on their lead… lol, when was the last time Indy was considered a “trap” game?!?! oh how the mighty have fallen…
that was my initial rationale for picking them as an upset…

just curious, does your pickem league drop your X worst weeks? that’s what ours does (it drops our 4 worst weeks from our final score)…
Mine drops two....
problem is, I’ve had about 2 really bad weeks and 2-3 average ones. In my league, you have to be great every single week or game over. I still have a shot at recouping my expenditure by winning or getting second on any given week.

Phyllis Rivers is such a moron...
incomplete pass….Delay of game…incomplete pass…timeout…interception…Chargers D stops them in three plays, but because Phyllis wasted that timeout, the chargers get the ball back with 10 seconds in the game needing a TD. lol What a moron.

…even though it went against my pick. Glad to see SD lose. I’ll take last place in the Guru and Friends picks if it helps Denver’s ranking in the division.

You go girl! Alright Guru. Just a little heads up here. You need to check on how often Melissa is having conversations with MDierk because they seem to be “In a dead Heat!” LOL. I think that they must at least be comparing notes, or somthing.
Its a long season and everyone seems to be hangin tough. Some of ya’ll have 5 games to catch up but, hang in there. I don’t know what the stakes are that are riding on the win or the loss. Perhaps you guys & gall could let us all know about that. Do you have to do all the house work for the next year if Melissa’s picks are better than yours? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPS! Sorry man, I wasn’t triing to cause a problem here!
Anyway, it is a lot of fun for the rest of us just being able to see “THE LADY OF MHR”, Kickin some butt!
A good thing about sports.
This isn’t a matter of a “lady” beating “the guys”. When it comes to being a sports fan, we are all equals. Melissa isn’t just “Guru’s wife”, she’s a Pats fan who happens to be married to a sports fan like herself. This old coach has no problem giving ground to a solid game picker like Melissa. Heck, in the football pools we had at the school I taught at, the coaches rarely won each week. It was almost always the art teacher or something. I’m used to being humbled.
I know metalman is having fun. We deserve the friendly jabs we are going to get. (You’ll notice that ESPN is too scared to have women picking on their site!)

Surprised with the picks on the first two games
I honestly picked the Cowgirls and the Fish to win each of their games in my pool at work. It wasn’t a pretty game, however I just had a feeling the Boys would come out and win. The fish, well they were playing at home.
Oh, and a BIG THANK YOU to the Brees and the Saints for handing SD another two-game losing streak. This made my bye week a lot better. I agree with broncfanstuckinsd on the fact that we need to really take advantage on the fact that the Chargers suck right now.
