WHAT THE HELL!?
Where is RANDY GRADISHAR????
I’m sorry…I love Karl Mecklenberg, but he was a nobody when compared to some of the old clips I have seen of Gradishar…what the hell is that about?!?!?

That's the first thing I noticed . . .
He’s in the Seniors group, but it’s curious that Tom Jackson and Louis Wright were contemporaries of is. I also noticed “Too Tall” Jones and others, who go way back, in there.
I don’t know how that works, but I’m thoroughly disgusted with the Hall. Gradishar had an eye-popping career. He is so thoroughly superior to many of them already in there . . .
Never argue with a fool, lest you take on his appearance. - my daddy
there is a 20 year eligibily rule
Gradishar retired in 83. Tj has only 3 more years. Sadly if anyone gets in this year from Denver it will be Sharpe, but I am not holding my breath. This HoF is a joke. Unless a Bronco gets in I am boycotting watching anything to do with the hof. I refuse to go into it, if I am ever there. Whats with the HoF’s based in Cleveland. The NFL one wont induct in a Bronco but they will other scrubs and the Rock n Roll HoF will induct Madonna but not Kiss. WTF (since when is Madonna rock? I have a few choice words I would call her, but a Rock performer isnt one of them)

Madonna has for sure bedded the Pro Football, MLB, NHL HOF committee…
So yes… She should go in ahead of all seven nominees.

Okay, I guess my subtlety isn't working
My “Are you sure about that?” comment was directed at Jezru’s comment that it is a fact that KISS had not slept with the induction committee for the Rock and Roll HOF.
I have no doubt that Madonna slept with the committee, but I can’t say for sure if KISS has or has not. That was supposed to be the point of my first comment.

Uh duh....
Guys… Gradishar and Little played for the Broncos. They weren’t part of storied franchises like Cincinatti, San Diego, and the Cardinals. Thinking we’ll get anyone is completely rediculous. We don’t get people into the hall. That’s the rule. Perhaps Shannon will get in, but only because he won with the Ravens. We are Broncos fans. We don’t get to enjoy HOF inductions. Besides! The Vikings need more inductees with their zero Superbowl wins and their 0 SB appearances in the last 25 years.
Please everyone, let's remember the rules around here
the hof does NOT get capitalized until there are significant changes in the number of Broncos inducted!

Joke of fame. Until more Broncos are inducted, that is what it is to me. Gradishar should have been a lock. Several others should have been seriously considered by now. I hate the jof.
MHH: Shagging Dater one contributor at a time.
Dan Reeves
Seriously? There is no way he should be considered for even the hall of adequate. He can get a team to the super bowl but could never win.
And Atwater should have been in long ago.
And this is his wikipedia short description
Daniel Edward Reeves (born January 19, 1944 in Rome, Georgia) is a former American football player and head coach. He coached, and lost, four Super Bowls: Super Bowl XXI (1986), Super Bowl XXII (1987) and Super Bowl XXIV (1989) as the Denver Broncos’ head coach, and Super Bowl XXXIII (1999) as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
Kinda sums up what I said. Plus how good can a guy be if he was replace by Wade Phillips, twice. (For the Broncos and Falcons)
You're not seriously knocking a coach
who took you to 3 super bowls in 4 years?
I'm knocking a coach that couldn't win the big one
Wins don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got that ring
I am not knocking Dan Reeves....he is the biggest omission from the Ring of Fame in my opinion.
Dude’s winning pct. rivals Mike Shanahan for us. Plus he took two different teams to the Super Bowl as a coach and played and won a Super Bowl as a player.
I would be honored as a Bronco fan to see Reeves enter the hall.

you have to be a pretty good coach
to get to 4 Super Bowls. Is Marv Levy better than Reeves? Bud Grant?

You should have kept reading his bio
There are some who are selected as Coaches, yet still played in the league. There are some selected as players who also Coached in the league.
Reeves should be in. His contributions as a whole, should not be limited to 4 Super Bowl losses as a head Coach, but since there are those here insisting that a SuperBowl win is mandatory, then Reeves still makes the grade.
As a Player with Dallas, Reeves lost SB 5 in 1971, but won SB 6 in 1972.
As an Asst Coach with Dallas (1974-1980), Reeves lost SB 10 & 13 in 1976 & 1979, but Won SB 12
in 1978.
As a Head Coach, he lost 4 Super Bowls as we know, but he still wears two Championship rings one as a player and one as a Asst Coach. In all, Dan Reeves either played or Coached in NINE Super Bowls! That’s nine Conference Championship rings! Nine is a huge number and just getting there in one way or another is a feat that many Coaches never did even once. Even HOFers Gillman and Paul Brown along with Grant, Levy, Allen, don’t have a ring. I wonder how many Men have been with a team that played and or Coached in as many Super Bowls as Dan Reeves?
Like him or not, Reeves was a good Coach, and if I remember right, it was Denvers Defense that choked in those three Super Bowls, not Dan Reeves, but I suppose he was at fault because he was a bad coach right?
And one more thing, Reeves wasn’t fired twice because Son of Bum was a better Coach, it’s just that Phillips was there and was a temp until a better coach came along. In the case of Denver it was a 2 year wait for Shanahan, in Atlanta’s case it was for the remainder of the year, then they brought in Mora. Do you really believe that Phillips replaced Reeves because he was better? Cmon, …

Bud Grant and Marv Levy
are in the hof and neither have as many wins as Reeves. While I have my own issues with Reeves he does deserve to be in the hall. Heck he took the Falcons to the Super Bowl. Atlanta that was 2 seasons removed from going 3-13

come on
JIm Kelly led them to 4 straight, if it wasnt for David Treadwell Denver would have gone to SB 26. It is extrememly unfair to say a coah who has 190 regular season wins doesnt belong in the hall.
I understand the dislike for Reeves but when it comes down to brass tacks Levy has roughly 60 fewer wins than Dan and the same amount of SB losses.

I'm sorry but wins don't make it
there should be a requirement to have won a super bowl to be in…at least as a coach. Look at how his teams have performed in the super bowls. As a scout of talent and getting teams to play together well and that is all I will concede. but look at the nose dive his teams take after seasons they do well. And Marv did have Jim Kelly, but also the respect of his players.
we fundamentally disagree
and thats cool. But let me ask you this, is Marty Schottenheimer a hof coach? He has never even gotten to a Super Bowl. Remember back when Reeves started he was not the GM. He eventually got to have that power by leading Denver to back to back Super Bowls. George Allen in in the hof and never won a SB. I think the ring requirement is not a fair barometer. Just my 2 cents

The Hell they don't
Wins is the most decisive statistic and longevity for grading Coaches, not necessarily Championships. If you require Coaches to have a Championship ring then the same requirement would be fair for the players. That would pretty much clear out a large portion of the HOF for inductees that played in the modern era.
Is it fair to say that all losing teams of a Super Bowl lost because their Coach was bad? Thats idiotic. The Patriots went 16-0 last year but were beaten in the SB. Obviously, Bellicheat is a bad Coach. We could make a csae for every Coach that can get his team to the SB, win or lose, but can he continue to do so? Reeves did. And with three different teams.

Not to mention all the coaches and players
that played before the Super Bowl era.
Are you saying that they are not worthy because the were early pioneers in the sport and (in some cases) helped to make the game as great as it is because they didn’t win a Super Bowl ring?

I'm with you BFSISD...
Dan Reeves was a hell of a football coach. Sure we hated that he kept Elway in a cage until the game was on the line late in the 4th quarter, but in a way that made it all the more exciting. I am pretty sure it was all those heart stopping games during his tenure in Denver that caused his heart problems in the 1998 Super Bowl run with the Falcons! I was a young man back then and even I felt a few chest pains during those years. lol
As I said before, it would be an honor to see Dan Reeves inducted into the Hall of Fame.

I agree
I think its a shame to penalize a coach for not being able to win the SB. You also have to take into consideration the era he coached. From 1984-1996 No AFC team won the Super Bowl. That just means the NFC was superior during that time frame. But Denver played in a lot of games. Regardless on how we feel about his utilization of Elway he had good scoring defenses. Which allowed Elway to pull those games out.

This will be another interesting year of HOF watching
The HOF better freakin vote a Denver Bronco in this year. I really have no respect for the HOF voters and the process, however if a Bronco gets in this year they may gain some back. Sharpe and Gradishar should be automatic along with Little, Jackson, etc…
If Gradishar gets in then I will I have one question. Why did it take so long? Did he all of a sudden become a better player over the past 10 years or so? If you are a HOFer, then you should get in right away instead of waiting so long.
Monk got his due last year, now it’s Gradishar’s time.

Atwater DID appear in 8 Pro Bowls
1990, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, & 1998.
Atwater played only three years in his career that he did not make the pro bowl: 89, 97, 99

If Little doesn't get in....
the hof will still be shallow, even with other Denver inductees. I love Sharpe, Davis, and the other guys, but we have some deserving players (along with Little) that have been cheated for far too long. They deserve to go in while still alive.
"Greater is an army of sheep led by a lion, than an army of lions led by a sheep" Defoe
Sadly
I dont know if he will ever get in the hof in his lifetime. Its such a travesty. He was the first AFC rushing champ in 1970 with 901 yards and was 4th in the NFL, Then in 1971 he led the NFL in rushing with 1133. These were on teams that won 5 and 4 games respectively. (9-17-2) Again why isnt he in the hall. When he retrired had 6323 rushing yards. Which wasnt broke until 1998 on the same day he eclipsed 2000 yards. If that does not ever tell those ignornat writer/voters for canton nothing ever, ever will.

man, a lot of good names up there
It might be hard for us to see more than Sharpe get in (IMO Sharpe’s a first ballot). I know we all hate the hof for its Broncos snubbery, but in some fairness there are a lot of good players on that list that could be deserving and they are working their way slowly … very slowly … through it. Are they doing it in the correct order though? Hard to say…
So who should get in this year?
Like Tunga said “a lot of good names” are on the list. I agree that Sharpe should be a first Ballot inductee, but the voters frown on first timers unless it’s a no brainer like Elway.
Looking at first year inductees, I would say that Bruce Smith and Rod Woodson are too strong to turn down as finalists. Perhaps they will be, but I think Smith is stronger than all the others. Personally I want Sharpe of course, but we know how Denver gets snubbed.
As for other Broncos, Im surprised that Tom Jackson is on the list. He doesn’t make the grade, neither does Meck (IMO).
Sharpe, Wright, Davis, Atwater are all HOF worthy, but who will make the final 17 for the selection committee? 15 players + 2 Senior selections will become finalists. Only seven can be selected.
Heres who I would select as Finalists:
First year eligible: Bruce Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Rod Woodson
Next 12: Roger Craig, Terrell Davis, Chris Carter, Andre Reed, Russ Grimm, Charles Haley, Kevin Greene, Steve Atwater, Lester Hayes, Louie Wright, Don Coryell, Dan Reeves
Now, without my Broncos bias, I would select the final seven to be:
Bruce Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Cris Carter, Charles Haley, Louie Wright , Don Coryell, and one of the possible finalists that are senior selections. Preferably Floyd Little, Gradishar or Jerry Kramer if they made the list.
