Most Memorable Broncos Games Ever???
Hey Guys,
I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.
A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Broncos football, which individual games stick out most in your minds? Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, SuperBowls, conference championships, blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?
Thanks guys!! Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Broncos so special to so many of us!!

Welcome to MHR!
I wrote about this early in the year. Here is my top 10!

The 1992 AFC Divisional Playoff game against Houston is my favorite.

In fact
check out all of Zappa’s “Through the Years” and “Broncos History” articles. Lots of gems, and he has a reputation for sparking up the memories of the…erm… “memory impaired” among the faithful. :)

I don’t want to be reminded how stuff I put out there, and I especially don’t want the wife to find out!!!! I’d rather just select a few nooogets every now and then. :P

Your wife thinks you spend too much time on MHR or something???

My wife hates sports and if she found out how much time I actually spent on it she'd likely take a bat to the ole comp. :P
I too read your previous comment several times before I understood anything.

Hard call--I've been a Bronco fan since '62--but did not go hard core until '76.
Prior to the mid seventy’s being a Bronco fan was a ‘Born-in-the-Rockies-Heart-thing.’ We loved the Broncos—but in all reality had alternative teams. Mine was the Cowboys, Dandy Don to Bob Hayes, then Roger the Dodger. For a short time I was a Miami fan—Czonka and Kick! Things changed with the advent of ‘Orange Crush’.
I always felt it a tragic irony that Denver’s first trip to the Bowl would be against the Cowboys. I was hoping so bad that year that LA would somehow knock off the Cowboys—but it was not to be. That year, however, made the Broncos my only love of football—and helped determine teams I would hate forever. I can’t isolate any given game—in fact I was unable to watch many games—but I can remember isolated plays.
In our first game with Oakland Jim Turner hauled in a touchdown pass on a fake field-goal. I stood up, pumped my fist in the air (long before pumping fists in air became popular) and screamed yes!! I already hated Oakland (I think its in the genes of true Bronco fans) and I loved us snuffing them in a slaughter.
This is getting a bit long so I will cut it short. The next most impressed memory comes in the playoff game against the Steelers. The play was over and players were walking back to the line, caught on TV (but not by the Refs) was Mean Joe slugging one of our players in the gut—laying him out—I will hate Pittsburg forever for that.
The best defense is a good offense!
I hope.
1997 Oct 26 game at Buffalo
I remember there was blizzard in Denver and the players had to arrive at the airport in snowmobiles and sleds. When they won that game in Buffalo in overtime after arriving late at night from across country, I knew the Broncos were as tough as they needed to be to win that first ring.
I think I remember that one.
Didn’t we blow a 20 point lead in the fourth quarter, and then Elam nailed a kick in OT for the win?

I remember that one...my fear of flying caused me to worry profusely about the safety of my beloved Broncos! lol

Welcome!
MY favorite game of all time was of course Super Bowl XXXII, but aside from that I don’t know if I have a favorite…
I’ve never really seen a great game live. I guess the best would be the divisional playoffs when we beat the Patriots and ended Belichick’s perfect streak. Or maybe the 49-21 game vs. the Eagles a couple years ago, but only because I used to hang out with Todd Devoe (remember him?) or maybe the Steelers game last year. Haha, I haven’t been watching for very long, and my memory of live games only goes back to about 2003.
Out of all the replayed games I have in my collection, I love the Drive game of course, the two Super Bowls, the 1992 Oilers game, or any of Elway’s other comebacks.

Wait, missed one.
Can’t believe I missed the 37-34 OT game from KC in 2004. I was at that one, but my mom made me leave after the 3rd quarter. My mom used to teach dance to Lamar Hunt’s great niece, so she got us into his suite for free. (I was in my Bronco gear, of course.) In there, I got to meet Ms. America, and I ate some weird French stuff, and Griese hit Shannon Sharpe on an 80 yard TD bomb and I got up and yelled and they were like, “you should leave now.” Lol so we went back to our regular seats and then she got cold when we were down 34-20, so I missed the whole comeback.

that game
Shannon Sharpe jad 214 yards receiving which is a Broncos record and the most ever by a TE in the history of the NFL and Griese was 35/50 for 376 2 TDs and more amazing he didnt throw a pick. Denver would win the next game and be 6-2 at the bye, Then Griese remember he was Griese and Denver would finish 9-7 and the next season Plummer was the QB until benched in 2006

Clinton Portis' 5 TD's
Was a mighty fun game as a Bronco fan. I remember yelling at the TV just give it to CP. He was nasty.
Hold on.
This guy joined every single NFL blog on SBNation and made the same post on each one? Hmmm…

He joined all the SBNation NFL blogs and made this fanpost on all of them
I’m not saying this isn’t a great conversation starter (it is), I’m just asking why he went to every blog and posted the same thing. Someone on Acme Packing Company noticed the same thing. I like the premise, though, and it’s kind of nead to go to all his posts and read about other teams’ highest points.

Kind of neat.
That’s three times today I’ve made a typo. It has not been a good week for papi…

86 and 87 AFC Championships
Two of the most memorable games in Bronco history have to be the first two AFC Championship wins against the Browns. I remember when the Browns went up 20-13 and when Elway took them from the 2-yard line for the tying TD. I also remember the next year when we built the big lead and when the Browns came back to tie it and when Castille stripped Byner at the goal line.
Mike Anderson breaking the single game rushing record.
I remember it because I listened to it on the radio. They must have been playing Seattle. It was pretty exciting.

Didn't he rush for like 257 yards or something crazy like that?

251
The rookie of the year Mike Anderson ran for a NFL rookie record of 251 yards as the Broncos beat the Saints 38-23 in New Orleans. Which marked Denver’s first ever win in the Superdome. (as they were 0-3 , lost SB 12 and 24 and was shutout by the Saints in 1988 42-0) As the Broncos won their 5th straight and kept their division title hopes alive. marked the first time in Bronco history a back had amassed over 400 rushing yards in back to back week, as Anderson the week before had ran for 195, including an 80 yard td run. He also had 4 rushing TDs which ties a Bronco record for a single game
