10/30 -- Brandon Marshall Presser
WIDE RECEIVER BRANDON MARSHALL
On his general mindset offensively following the bye week
“Basically we want to just get back on track and do the little things the right way.”
On receiving more attention from opposing defenses
“It is definitely frustrating when you are used to getting the ball nine or 10 times a game. That is part of the process of being an elite receiver. It is alright because we have (WR) Eddie (Royal) on the other side who is able to catch nine or 10 balls and keep the chains moving. We are fine.”
On if it is helpful having guys back from injury
“Absolutely. You take guys like (TE) Tony Scheffler and (WR) Brandon Stokley out of the game plan, it is tough. Those are big pieces to our puzzle.”
On turnovers
“I am still carrying the ball around in between team periods and practice. That is what it is about, ball security and we need to continue trying to protect the football.”
On this being an important game
“Yeah of course. We have been losing lately, we want to get back on that winning streak and get onto the right track. Everybody needs to look into the mirror first before they start pointing fingers.”
On being in good shape in the AFC West
“We control our own destiny. There is still a lot of football to be played, we are not even half way through the season. We have one more game before we are at eight.”
On the difference in Miami’s play from last year to this year
“I don’t know. I didn’t watch them last year and this is my first week watching them this year. It seems like they have a little swagger about themselves. Whenever you are losing you kind of put your head down and you are not motivated. It seems like they are upbeat and they are getting it done.”
On getting teams out of double covering him
“There are certain things that we can do. Like if they want to go Cover-2 to stop our passing game then we should be able to run the ball to get them out of that Cover-2. It is imperative to get our running game going week in and week out. If they want to double me, that is fine because we have other guys like (WR) Brandon Stokley and (WR) Eddie Royal. They can get the job done as well. We all do some things differently but in the end we are all playmakers.”
On his impressions of RB Ryan Torain
“Really good. He is tough and explosive. All of our running backs are play makers. Look at guys like Selvin Young, Michael Pittman and Andre Hall. They do things different, but they are all playmakers in their own way. He (Torain) is definitely a piece to the puzzle and this week we will see how big of a piece he is.”

though they call him baby T.O.
at least he doesn’t complain like T.O. I dont think ive ever heard owens say anything about establishing the run being important, or getting another receiver like royal into the game. Seems to me that T.O. knows only one strategy, give him the ball.

Agreed.
T.O. is twice the baby BMarsh will ever be. Maybe they should call T.O. “Baby BMarsh?”

I like that baby Marsh idea!
Who is Terrel next to Marsh. Brandon is at the beginning of his carrere and to is to, to many times pissing off the other players on his team with His selfish ways! BMarsh is a team player, and I won’t B surprised when he stomps all over To’s records.

It is fun to have a player that is going to be great--that really loves the game--
and understands the concept of team.
Back when Brandon was in all sorts of trouble I wasn’t buying he was a problem. His obvious fun-loving nature, ie..interupting Jay at a press conferance…had me convinced that there was a really good guy behind all those problems.
Back then I preached that the ‘Bad Brandon’ would eventually get overrun and taken out by the ‘Good Marshall’
Its fun to see it happening right before our eyes.
The best defense is a good offense!
I hope.

I agree
Its refreshing to see a great WR not whining about getting his touches and his TD’s. Its nice to hear him say what is good for the team. This guy knows he will get his and he also realizes what this teams bread and butter has been. I enjoy seeing him mature before our eyes.

We have a Shannon Sharpe—maybe better—and humble.
How different in this day and age.
I really like it.

Good Point
He is a good guy and you can tell that he loves the game; something that you don’t see in a lot of players. I mean even Jay Cutler as great as he is looks like he is about to fall asleep and has a very lackadasical way of answering questions.
One of the best examples of BMarsh’s dispostion was in the MNF blowout to NE. It was on the 3rd drive I think where BMarsh got called for the phantom PI on 3rd down when he had the first down completion. Everyone knew the call was bogus but BMarsh wasn’t gesturing at the ref, yelling at him, throwing his hands in the air, or even shaking his head. He treated it as just something that happened in the game. Don’t get all worked up about it – just worry about what you can control and he did.
I keep dropping hints to my wife that I want a BMarsh jersey. Apart from the psycho girlfriend he is a great guy.

I am so glad he is on our team.
I didn’t see the injury report, however if we get our offensive players that were injured back, I know Marshall will get plenty of action on Sunday. If not, then Royal and Scheffler will have a field day.

One reason Brandon likes the running game
is because it gives him more chances to punish DBs. I don’t know if he is a consistent blocker, but I have seen him make many devestating blocks of DBs. Giving them this type of a beating also helps wear them down and benefits his ability to get open and get YAC.
Lucky us!

Yea
I watched that NFLN interview with him and Rod Smith. There are two things that I took away from it.
BMarsh thrives on contact and getting physical; we all know this. But how he said he sets it up was great. He said that he loves to block because it helps him running slants. Plus I think he is just looking to pop someone; when I played tight end my favorite play was pulling on a sweep or blocking for a screen and seeing a safety or cornerback sitting back trying to hold outside containment and POW!
The other thing I was very impressed was when BMarsh was using Rod Smith as a prop on the interview and showed how he pushes DB’s aside to run his slants. Rod laughed and said “wow he’s pretty strong.” It’s one thing for young players to get complimented by Hall of Famers because they are being polite; it’s a completely other thing when the Hall of Famer gives praises because he is really impressed.
