You had me worried there..

Is Kenny Loggins still our victory song? Because if it isn’t, I have a couple of requests.

Win 150

Perhaps you can talk about Coach S. 150th win.

Victor Frankl:

What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

yippee!!

was wondering there…

i hope not papi. we need a better theme. something less 80’s-ish.

good. no back 2 back losses this season.

still on track for 13-3. both kc and sd lost. that is perfect for us.

Yeah, we got our 2 game lead over SD back

too bad about the fumble on the int.

Vincent: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese.
Jules: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese! You know why they call it that?

strained left groin on that last drive when he did not go out of bounds

and apparently both Ekuban and Selvin Young suffered strained left groins as well.

thanks

I’ve seen other posts saying the same. I completely agree.

by 53guys on Oct 5, 2008 7:07 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I have to disagree about starting Pittman

he isn’t an everydown back. Part of the reason he looks so good, is that the coaching staff is using him the right way, so that he doesn’t wear down prematurely. More plays would reduce his effectiveness.

And if you can only play him for a certain amount, don’t you want those reps to be the critical third down, short yardage and late game reps? That is where he is currently being used, and where his veteran knack is really shining through.

I wish he was four years younger, and an indeal everydown guy, but I think it would be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, thinking it must have a lump of gold inside: you just get a dead goose and no more golden eggs.

He' been a part-timer

I think he can handle 20 carries a game. Spell him will Hall every third drive.

by 53guys on Oct 5, 2008 7:13 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the more relevant question might be

Can Pittman, Hall and Hillis handle the load for a couple weeks until the bye week if S Young is out?

by MattR on Oct 5, 2008 7:23 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Don't get me wrong

I LOVE how Pittman is playing, but I am wary of changing how he is being used, especially since he is an 11 year vet. That is a long time for a RB to be productive in htis league.

I wouldn’t complain if we decided to do something like this in a couple of weeks, when Torain is closer to coming back. Right now there is no guarantee that Torain will be effective this year.

Can you imagine losing Pittman right now? The running game looks pretty bad if that happens… We have enough offensive firepower, and a deep enough playbook to absorb some compromises in the running game.

I will say that I agree with anyone whos says that Pittman has EARNED the right to more reps. But he is enough of a team player to know that that may not be what the team needs most right now…

And it isn’t like he isn’t leading the team in rushing TDs and 3rd down conversions or anything….

When it comes to pining for the running game, I just wish that Selvin and Hall were more effective, and pulling more of their weight. But they are doing pretty good anyways. If they keep plugging away, and this oline keeps getting better, we will have a return to form that we have all come to expect. Consider it part of the rebuilding process.

by styg50 on Oct 5, 2008 7:26 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You might be right

What I was trying to say before was that he has been a part timer for his 11 years. So he may be more like a 7 or 8 yr vet.

I do hate the thought of him going down though.

I do hope Torrain is the beast they say he is. I don’t think he will be in great shape the first game or two back though.

Playoff bound!

by 53guys on Oct 5, 2008 7:29 PM MDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I agree with you part timer sentiment

from the way you phrased it before, I suspected you were aware of how he was used in TB. In addition to the committee approach there, I think he also missed a year with a strange injury. When i read about it, it looked to me like he basically got a year off, yet didn’t have any kinds of issue from the injury, so subtract a full year from his “football age”.

I can’t wait to hear what Torain is doing in practice. Guru’s report on him out of training camp had me pretty pumped up. He sounded READY for some serious football. The broncos universe dimmed the day he went down.

The only five games I think we have a hard time with the rest of the way are...

Jax, @NE, @Car, Buf, @SD…. But hopefully we have it wrapped up by week 17

Miami

is starting to make me a little nervous.

Maybe the bye week will give us time to figure out how to stop the Wildcat!

I was a little worried about the backers at the begining of the game

but they really started playing well, and minding the gaps.

They can give a big thankyou to the DTs. Huge improvement int he play up front.

Leaps and bounds with this front seven, now we just need to show consistency…
