Will Denver make a trade?
Please see the attached artical, some interesting players that may be available at the trade deadline, of note was the idea of trading Larry Johnson to the Broncos. I have a hard time believing that a division rival would trade Johnson in division, but it is an interesting idea. I doubt that we would be able to fit him under the salary cap for next year, so it would be a rent a player for a season type deal. There are also some DL from the Lions mentioned that may be of interest to the Broncos. So what is everyones thoughts on making a trade, especially if they could get Larry Johnson for a season, then the offense would be scary good.Top Ten Players that could be traded

No
I voted no, because whenw as the last a trade was made at the deadline that was impactful in the NFL? (maybe Chambers last year- maybe) No team really wants to part with a #1 or #2 for a rental player like in the other 3 sports. Plus who out there is really worth anything, or at least would make an impact. I dont see any

Fair enough
I don’t know if we would be able to get an impact player, but I would like some depth on either the DT or OG/C and if we have to give up a conditional draft pick for someone who can at least provide depth and play some, then I would be for it. I honestly think they should look at trading for Shaun Rogers, I really can’t see Cleveland doing anything this year and I think we could get him at a bargain for a couple of years, I think he would be a guy we can play at NT or DT and he is a game changer.

I was trying
to think maybe a DE, but then I guess I am hopefull somehow the DE’s Denver has will produce. I just dont believe teams are willing to trade. Plus I also believe the salary cao does come into consideration. Where the prorated bonues may become an issue right away, (i could be wrong on that but I dont think so)

I really don't know how the bonus structure works
I know that we are paying a lot of Colbert’s salary the next two years because of the bonus thing, so it maybe that it really doesn’t cost us that much to trade for someone if they have a low base salary.

We don't need Larry Johnson...we're fine on offense.
If the right defensive player was available AND we could get him for a bargain then maybe. However, I don’t see anything significant happening here and on defense I’m kind of in ‘wait and see’ mode. One reason I’ve been so critical of the defense this year is because I’ve always thought they have the talent to be one of the better defenses in the leaue and have been significantly underachieving. Last week may have been a solid indication that things are starting to coalesce nicely. I want to see if that continues or it was a fluke.

Totally Agree
Johnson seems to be too much of a “me first” person and doesn’t seem to be a leader.
Maybe, if the price was right, one of Detroit’s DTs, but only if he came cheap. We should know more about the state of our defense by Sunday night and whether we’re going to need help or not. Otherwise, I say stick with what we have and don’t bring in any potential character problems.

I don't know about LJ
Granted I agree, he is a me first guy, but I think he also doesn’t want to be stuck in KC and wants a chance to be good in the playoffs. I am somewhat concerened with our RB, I think Torain will be the long term answer but I don’t see him having that much of a contribution this year. Having had the same injury he had, I know how long it takes to rehab, and it really is tough.

The biggest problem with LJ
is that he non-existent when it comes to blocking. So many times I have seen him whiff on a linebacker or safety and all his qb to get whacked. It is like he doesn’t want to block at all. He is a good power runner, but has so many other issues. I wouldn’t want that bad apple on the Broncos.

Great point
forgot this about LJ. He wouldn’t fit in Denver at all. You either block or you’re benched on the Broncos.

I'll give Cory Redding a shot
If we can swing another deal like the one we did for Robertson (based on playing time).

I second that
That could be a good deal if it is like the Robertson deal.

I don't like any of these guys
The only player better than what we have now at any postition is LJ. I agree with most of the others that he is a spoiled brat, doesn’t block well and he would be a rent-a-player for a year.

I don't like Larry
I don’t see him fitting in with our system, I don’t think he is the back that he once was, and he would cost way too much IMO. He is a horrible blocker, and his attitude could use some improvement. Of course playing on that abysmal chiefs team could have a negative impact on ones attitude in general. Still don’t like the fit though.
