Upset Picks of Week 9

I'm a tad late with this post, but I've been buried in work these past two weeks.  Which I suppose is a good thing.  I didn't do this post last week because I didn't have any real upset picks to write about.  This week I do, however.  I did well, 2-1, in Week 7 and I hope to continue this trend.

Last Week: 2-1
Overall Record: 11-8

High Risk Upset Picks:

St. Louis over Arizona

The Rams have been playing well since making a coaching change and I look for this to continue against the high flying Cardinals.  The Rams have talent, there is not doubting that, and nearly every team has been looking past them, but I think after this week that ends.  I got the Rams by 3.

Houston over Minnesota

I didn't have this as a high risk upset pick two days ago, but after checking the yahoo trends, only 30% have picked Houston to win this game.  Do they know something I don't?  I see a three game win streak from Houston and an inconsistent and turnover happy Vikings team.  Who knows, maybe I got this one all wrong, but I see the Texans winning by at least 7.

Other possible high risk upset picks I did not pursue:

Dallas over New York

Medium Risk Upset Picks:

Washington over Pittsburgh

Washington is a risky pick only if you believe that Pittsburgh is better.  I do not believe Pittsburgh is better and I have watched Washington win a couple of close "trap" games that must have everyone scared to pick them against the division leading Steelers.  I think the Redskin defense beats up on Big Ben while Santana Moss has a big game to give Washington the win here.

Other possible medium risk upset picks I did not pursue:

New England over Indianapolis
Miami over Denver

Low Risk Upset Picks:

Baltimore over Cleveland

I was quite surprised to see that Baltimore has a slight edge on Yahoo over Cleveland.  This game went from being a medium risk to a low risk.  I think that the Browns will run into a stone wall in this game as the Ravens have proven to be a tough defense to exploit.  Derek Anderson is no Peyton Manning and the Giants D is nothing compared to the Ravens D.  I got the Ravens in a tough divisional game.

I feel good about these picks and hopefully I can pull at least 3 wins out this week.  I have some major work to do in my money league and I need to make up one game on Mdierk and Melissa in the MHR League.  Sorry this is late, but hopefully I can get this out earlier next week.  Good luck tomorrow!  GO BRONCOS!

PS  In case anyone was wondering, the Cowboys-Giants game is a high risk game because I saw only 14% of Yahoo users picked the Cowboys this week.  I was shocked when I saw that tonight as I thought for sure that pick would at least be a low to medium risk.   It does make me happy to see that the rest of the nation believes as we do that the Cowboys are a talent laden joke...much like the Chargers are.
