New Blog: Sounder At Heart for Seattle Sounders Fans!

A Special Open Thread (dedicated to Firstfan)

While working over the internet with MHR member (and MHR University doctoral student) Firstfan, I received the good news that he (and his wife, known with affection as Ole Blister) are the grandparents of a new baby boy.

Firstfan says that mother and father and baby are all doing well.

Please join the MHR Staff in congratulating Firstfan.  And because we all care about each other, use this as an open thread to discuss the following:

  1. Any good news in your neck of the woods, and
  2. Any personal concerns the community can wish you well on.

Have a terrific week as we get ready to roll into the Falcon's house with the Blue and Orange Army!

Congratulations firstfan and mrs. firstfan!

Being a grandparent will be lots of fun.

As for good news in my neck of the woods?

i) It stopped raining today
ii) I do not have to write an essay this week
iii) I have no money!

Wait, one of those is not a good thing.

Blast and botheration.

Congrats First Fan.....

Good news on my neck of the woods…….I am on the right side of the grass.
Bad news….I have to lay off staff becasue of the economy. IT REALLY sucks as they have been with me for over 5 years, they do a great job and they are good people….luckily they are only part timers, but I HATE this part of the job.
anyway, GO BRONCOS!!!!!

Congrats!!

I just got through a show weekend (another one coming up this weekend), which was really fun….but because I had a ton of other things going on as well, I am now completely exhausted. This is not a good thing, as it leads to skipping classes (to be fair, they were only dance classes) and abnormally early bedtimes (9pm), plus hitting walls around 3 in the afternoon. Oh yeah, and somehow managing to NOT NOTICE a paper due in French class….

It’s been a rough few days, let’s just put it that way. Two weeks till Thanksgiving break!

Your show looks AWESOME!!! I remember when it was in its initial stages back when MHR was just a young buck. Both have come a long way. Great Job! Let me know if there is any video. I would come see it if I were in Denver, but…. :(

The Honorable Patriarch of Silverblood and Squeaky is working on it. I’m kind of hoping he figures something out, since my ability to eat for the next year also may depend on it.

Yeah, I am in shows all the time...

That one will happen eventually, no worries about that. Just not at the present moment.

Also some other bad news – I think I am getting sick. (hard to avoid in college, though…)

On the bright side, I did get to see Billy Elliott the musical last night, which was fantastic. :)

Fantastic for Firstfan!

Good news:

-I downloaded the 1983 NFL draft, entire first round
-The Hawkeyes beat Penn State, woo!
-I have 4.5 weeks left in the semester, and then 1 semester after that, and I am off to my job in the real world. I’m sick of school (in my 5th year of school, finishing up Master’s).

Bad news:

-My friends who were supposed to come stay tonight (they are seeing Jim Cramer and Mad Money on campus tomorrow) are about 3.5 hours late…

Really nothing to complain about, my life is good, I am thankful for everything I have, and I appreciate the best Broncos fan community in the world. I hope to catch games with any and all of you guys sometime.

by Arctic Bronco on Nov 11, 2008 7:15 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

No Kidding

I am working on a research paper and have 2 projects to work on (plus work), but it’s a lot more fun to watch the football stuff I’ve found recently.

by studbucket on Nov 11, 2008 7:17 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

I wish I had projects

instead of this stupid online group game we are playing in class that counts 40% of the total grade. It is all about managing a multinational company, and my teammates don’t know a damn thing. I have a 3.6 GPA in all of my other classes, but will be lucky to get a C in this class due to the “game”.

But I digress.

they sure are hard to evaluate in a classroom setting.

great news

my mom(and many others) tell me it is a greater joy than even parenthood. i hope you enjoy the same experience with your grandson. firstfan, the babysitter? good stuff. my sister has the kids(2 boys). me, i’m still looking for the mother of mine, someday. i’d be starting a little too late for grandkids, realistically, but who knows? the good news for me is i’m still alive, reasonably sane, and relatively healthy, no small achievement in this life. best of luck to you and yours, something tells me he’s gonna love grandpa

You know we are kinda forgetting the two most important people involved with this. First is my daughter-in-law Storme who sports the # 80 jersey and gave birth to this wonderful life. Next is my son Dan (aka Danver) who lurks on the MHR and makes very occasional comments. So I raise a toast to the proud parents “Congratulations”!

This is a wonderful community here. Thank you Guru for creating it and thanks to all of you for all of the kind words.

All this leads me to another very important question —

How many more members here are related??

I know Squeaky and Silverblood are related.
I now know that Danver and firstfan are related.

Any other father/son, sibling, or any other relations lurking on the site???

I'm pretty sure my aunt joined up, or will soon.

She doesn’t have a home computer, so she had to wait until she got a job where she has Internet access, and I think she’s starting the new job soon. I’ll be sure to notify everyone when she joins, and we can give her an MHR initiation.

I also know that Love Hope Hero’s wife is on here, but I forgot what her name was…

Great news!

Another Broncos fan on the planet! Congrats first fan! I know my parents have absolutely loved the experience of grandparenting. You get all the good parts, and go home when the kids get cranky!

My good news remains that I got married 3 weeks ago… and that our wedding appeared in the NY Times Style section a couple weeks later. See here: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/02/fashion/02farm.html

I am the goofy guy dancing in the brown Italian Corduroy suit. My bride has her back to the camera with the flowers in her hair. The guy with the prominent rear is my best man. First and last time a Style section has anything to do with me and mine, that’s for sure!
