Why didnt we...
go after Kris Jenkins...I dont understand how we assumed and got stuck with Roberston when he wasnt the best DT available at the time. I remember before he was injured in Carolina Jenkins was a monster and I always was ready to envision him in a broncos uniform and when he was available in the offseason I couldnt understand why we didnt attempt to sign him at all. He was still at the time top 5 DTs in the leagues and games are won in the trenches. Im so disappointed that the Jets are receiving the benefits of a dream that I wanted in Denver. Too bad.

A couple of points...
2 years ago it was rumored that Denver wanted to trade with Carolina for Jenkins if I remember rightly, andI think the same concerns then hold true for now….he is a true 3-4 NT that, at the time, was not suited to our 4-3 scheme.
I think if our organization knew we were going to run some 3-4 hybrids we MAY have gone after him.,
In a way, I feel sorry for Robertson. He was never suited to 3-4 yet played fairly solid for the jets. He comes to the Broncos which is a 4-3 TEAM AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WE START MESSING WITH THE 3-4. I would be pretty exasperated if I was Dewayne Robertson.
For all of you out there that thought Dewayne Robertson was going to be a savior, I think that was over exagerating WAY too much.
He has been a solid acquisition at a very LOW cost, and will be good in a rotation next year if we can get a great DT/DE in FA. Thomas has got better, and I think, across the board, the D Line has improved.
Nice thread!

I agree, the DLine has improved.
It has been a bright spot this year, imo. Not dominate, but surley servicable. DRob, Thomas, and Doom are all quality starters. Moss is emerging. Ek, Engelberger, Peterson, Crowder (?) are solid depth. Add Powell to the mix next year and we have a strong foundation.
To be dominate this line needs one beast— a player with the skills of Jenkins, Haynsworth, Rodgers, etc. If 2009 and 2010 are the years where we have a chance at a super bowl and we have some cap room, I think we need to spend some money and bring in a free agent here. Tommie Harris? Haynsworth? Peppers? Any one of those guys makes this line dominate if we can get one.
Use the draft picks for LB, RB, and SAF. Move up with the extra picks and draft two of each in the first five rounds.

We weren't going to pay the asking price
I think that is the main problem, we also had shots at Shaun Rogers, but I think the Broncos thought with their contracts, it would be too steep a price to pay.
