What I saw.
Seeing as this was my first Bronco game that I have seen in person I feel somewhat obligated to write a small report of what I saw.
1. Spencer Larson and Wesley Woodyard are the future at linebacker. Those guys were flying around making plays all night. I can't say enough about Spencer's heart.
2. Peyton Hillis has what it takes to be a running back in Denver's system. Other then one goalline stuff Hillis ran hard all night and definitely had a nose for the end zone.
3. Royal is fast supplanting Marshall as Cutler's go-to guy. Cutler looks very comfortable throwing to Fast Eddie.
4. From what I saw of them, I must say that Atlanta fans are a great group of people. No complaints on that front. The two guys sitting next to me were nice the whole game, asked me some questions about Bronco starters, and filled in some information for me abour Falcons players.
5. There were alot of Denver fans at the game. I expected to be nearly alone in Atlanta, but the Denver faithful turned out in droves.
6. Cutler didn't take any unneccessary risks with the football. His decision making was very smooth and although he didn't have flashy stats he showed quite a bit of maturity.
7. Jamie Winborn has lead hands. Well, perhaps that is too harsh, but my heart skipped a beat when he dropped what would have been the game clinching interception.
8. Overall our defense is improving noticeably. I felt so much more secure when the defense came out onto the field then in previous games. They had Turner's number for most of the game. Take away that 25 yard TD and he had mabye a 2 yard per carry average.
Well that's all. An exciting game that gave Cutler his sixth 4th quarter comeback for a win, and I was there to see it all.

I wouldn't be too harsh on Winborn
Most LB and DB have poor hands, it is the rare ones that make all the int.

Yea, but it was frightening when it happened.

What I saw was wide eyes--looking at touchdown--instead of the ball.
The best defense is a good defense!

He got a little antsy waiting for the ball.
It happens to players who don’t get the ball that often. Unfortunate, but true.

Atwater
Atwater had a few drops back in the day and he turned our alright.

What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.

Louis Wright
Wright was the best CB Denver has ever had, but he couldn’t catch a football for love or money.
He had read the inscription on the gates of Busyrane–‘Be bold’; and on the second gate–‘Be bold, be bold, and evermore be bold’; and then again had paused well at the third gate–‘but not too bold.’" RW Emerson

That's why he wasn't a receiver

Emotion and intensity are good traits for a LB, but
skill players need to be relaxed and in control of their emotions. Plus, he wasn’t running a route, he was just the lucky recipient of a bad pass.

Actually Arctic...
It looked from the behind shot a great read by WInborn. He breaks off his aasignment by keying on the QB and gets in front of the pass……unfortunatley he has hands like feet!!!!!

Thanks goodness the ATL WR dropped that one in the endzone at the end.

Phil--would you agree that this was one of Jay's best managed games?

Hmmm....
It’s hard to call. Definitely his least risky game. He looked a lot less like Brett Favre this time around. I think that because our defense kept them out of it he didn’t need to take any extreme chances with the ball.

Good breakdown P-21
I, too, think Hillis has the making of a FT HB. However, I still think the Broncos long-term plans are for him to play FB ala Howard Griffith. The biggest difference I see, going forward next season, is that Hillis will get more carries than Griffith ever did.
I wish Woody Paige was our coach!

I really like Hillis in the passing game.
He brings a new dimension to our offense.

Awesome Man
I would have loved to be there with you! It was a great win for Denver! I couldn’t believe that Mike actually let Larson play the possition that We Here at MHR have been talking about all week!
Like I said in a response to annother post, THE BRONCOS PLAYERS READ MHR, and then talk about it in the locker room, sooo, we need to keep giving THE GOOD input that we do so that WE can turn this team into a classic winner, game after game after game!
