Calling All Broncos Fans!! Prove Your Fandom!
The Broncos need your help. We all talk about the fact the Broncos get little to no respect on a national level. The screw-job that is the Pro Football Hall of Fame and all the rest. we talk about it alot. Now we need to put our actions where our mouths are.
The NFL is currently holding voting for the 2009 Pro Bowl. Several Broncos are deserving, but with a little less than 3 weeks left in the voting some of our Broncos need some help if they are going to get to Honolulu.
I am not asking you to vote for players you don't feel are deserving. Specifically there are a few that i think deserve the opportunity -- Ryan Clady, Ryan Harris and Eddie Royal.
Clady, specifically, has had an incredible rookie campaign playing the toughest position on the offensive line. Think about the following --
* Ryan Clady, whom the Broncos selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft from
* Clady has been whistled for only two penalties in 10 starts (1 holding, 1 false start). According to Stats Inc., he has given up only half a sack (at N.E., 10/26/08) this year.
MOST STARTS, ROOKIE OFFENSIVE TACKLES, NFL, 2008
Player GP GS FS Hold. Pen-Yds.
1. Ryan Clady, Den. 10 10 1 1 2-15
Jake Long, Mia. 10 10 0 2 3-30
Duane Brown, Hou. 10 10 1 1 3-18
4. Branden Albert, K.C. 9 9 0 0 0-0
5. Jeff Otah, Car. 6 6 3 1 4-25
That list just doesn't include AFC rookies, that is all rookies. Clady has also gone up against some of the best pass rushers in the NFL including Joey Porter and John Abraham and has come out only giving up a 1/2 sack all season. Another indication of his dominance is the fact that Daniel Graham is becoming a bigger part of the passing game. That can only happen if Graham is not required to stay back and block.
Please take a few minutes every day to go vote for Clady and any other Broncos you feel are worthy. After the jump are the voting results to date.

Does this means we should (when not voting Denver player) vote for players that don't have a chance?
The best defense is a good defense!
And last week's young players. Yes!

I voted for Broncos only
and didn’t even bother selecting others…left the safety position blank b/c that has been a weak spot for us.

I can't believe Clady isn't at the top...

And sorry, but what has Champ done lately?
Just to be fair to the lesser knowns around the league who might be more deserving of Pro Bowl recognition. I wish fans didn’t get a vote…I believe more Broncos would get in if fans didn’t have so much weight in the results.

His mane is Champ Bailey.
That’s why people vote for him. Same reason Manning is ahead of Rivers, even though Rivers is having one of the best years of any QB in the league (I know, I know, blasphemy.)

It'd be funny if...
both Cutler and Phyllis got in… do you think they might actually go grab a mai tai together and bond a bit while in Hawaii? ;)

Just a suggestion to help . . .
Some of the positions, of course, offer the opportunity for more than one selection. DO NOT select anyone besides the one you want in there. Consider: when you select your player and another, then someone else picks your other one and yet another besides your player, your “off” pick got TWO votes to your one.
Pick ONLY the player you want in there. That will give more power to your vote.

That's a good way to put it..
and I just got finished voting again. I know Clady isn’t in the top 5 right now, however I am sure the coaches know who he is so he might gain some ground that way.

That's fortunate for Clady
because Long has gotten all the hype. When Clady’s name came up before the draft, it was like, “Oh yeah, that guy who blocks up there in North Dakota or Idaho or somewhere. I here he’s pretty good.”
Yeah, pretty good. Clady has allowed all of 0.5 sack this year, as opposed to Long’s 2.5 sacks.
As you mentioned, I’m sure those in the profession are more aware of Clady.

I don't really follow college football, however
you would think he would have gotten more recognition in at Boise St. I mean didn’t they go undefeated a couple of times while he was there?

Yeah, a Division II team went undefeated . . .
I don’t think many people were even very aware of them until they won that major bowl game.

Good point AZ
It would be slightly better if selections were weighted (3 points for your first selection, 1 point for your third, etc…)

CB Question
Shouldn’t Asomugha be killing Cromartie?
by NTSBusMan on Nov 19, 2008 10:54 AM MST reply actions 0 recs
He should, but Cromartie gets all the hype because he plays for the Chargers

if i remember correctly
Clady had a chop block penalty called against him as well early in the season.
by uclabruin34 on Nov 19, 2008 11:37 AM MST reply actions 0 recs
That penalty
went against Hamilton, who was the “low man” on the block. Also, the false start penalty was actually an illegal formation penalty. Same penalty for both, 5yds, replay the down.

Good thing, too.
All Clady did on that penalty amounted to a pat on the back. But it probably looked worse to the ref in the heat of battle.
Even the 0.5 sack was questionable in my mind. As I remember, Clady had taken his man inside, and a rusher came from the outside and beat the TE over there. So, even though Clady had someone else locked down, I guess he got the 0.5 because that was technically his territory. Stuff happens . . .

To keep it going the I believe the holding call
was pretty darn ticky tack as well.
But that Illegal Formation was ALL Clady!! That boy needs to get his head on straight, or he’ll be out of a job!

Hell yeah . . .
Out of the 500 or whatever plays he has been in, one Illegal Formation penalty is too many!!

My loyalty lies with the name on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
That said I’ve voted for all deserving players with “Broncos” on the front of their jersey. They gotta find a category for Peyton Hillis though! How about clutch offensive weapon with a variety of uses/talents.

I know!
nd put Larsen at the MLB and ST categories. I don’t want to vote for him as a fullback.

Bailey
I didn’t vote for Champ right away, but I saw the other corners on there, and determined that he should be in. I voted for 8 Broncos: Clady, Harris, Royal, Marshall, Cutler, Champ, Prater, and Kern. I could see Weigmann getting in as well, but I voted for Kevin Mawae and Nick Hardwick. They didn’t have any stats next to the names like they used to, so it makes it harder. They need to put those back next year.
