The worst thing to ever happen to this Broncos this season...
Was the blown Ed Hochuli play. Ever since then it seems like every refing crew that calls are games feels the need to make up for that one call. The Officiating in the last few games has be BULL S***. I don't care if some of you will call me a whiner there have been preponderance of calls that have gone against us, and that have not been in the Character of the given game. Calls that don;t even make sense and aren't even close. These are NOT tough close judgment calls these are bordering on flat out and out conspiracy level bad calls.
I know I know Turnovers, bad running game, blah, blah, blah. Pat Bowlen better be petitioning to Goodell RIGHT NOW!
We may come back and win this game, but that won't negate the fact that the officiating has been complete and utter BS.

The refs seem almost gleeful
to call penalties against the Broncos.
Now when the Dolhoins get thier FIRST penalty of the game (in the fourth quarter no less). The looks on thier faces are almost upset that they had to call it.

The first penalty of the NE game came half way through the fourth quarter when the game was already out of hand.
I believe Jacksonville didn’t get flagged either until late in the 3rd quarter. Wow!! Three consecutive teams that played perfect mistake-free football!! I didn’t know that was possible.
Michael Fabiano really knows nothing about football outside of regression analysis and stat extrapolation. If it doesn’t have to do with fantasy football, his opinion is worthless.

Well...
The game is over now, and I have had some time to cool down after the terrible offensive pass interference call. While the officiating was truly terrible (10 penalties for the brocs 2 for the dolphins, even my orange colored eyes didn’t know that was BS). I have to say that the play of the defense and the recievers at the end of the game lets the refs off the hook a little bit. The defense let a dolphins team that was terrible on thrid and long convert a 3rd and 18 (screen pass) and a 3rd and 13 (just a terrible job of coverage by Louis Green on Ricky Williams). and the Recievers dropped FOUR passes in a row to finish the game. Brandon Alligator armed a 15 yard or so pass on first down, then he dropped a touchdown in the endzone, then Stokey let a sure first down go through his hands on third down and on fourth down Eddite Royal dropped a first down, on a pass that while contested did make it all the way to his body. Cutler has to be one frustrated guy right now.
Also that third interception goes on the ref just as much as it goes on Cutty. If I had just had a bomb stolen from me I would feel like pressing a little bit too. Yeah Yeah Yeah he needs some more maturity, whatever that was an extreme situation and I don’t fault him for losing his composure a bit at all. In fact I was suprised that Shanny didn’t stay on the field and yell at the head judge until he was forced to throw a flag. Kind of like a Lou Pinella style rant.

In the second sentance that should read:

I absolutely agree about the refs, but
I have to take the medicine I fed Charger fans after Big Ed’s call earlier this year. Bad calls change games, its part of the game.

So what I'm saying is:
If you give them a win for the Hochuli call and give us the Marshall PI call, the season is still 4-4

Yeah I see what you are saying, but...
of course there was also the Jacksonville game that had some phantom calls in it as well. Maybe I am just speaking from my orange and blue heart, but it sure seems like ever since the Hochuli call the refs have been overly conscious of anything they could possibly call against us. For example, Marshall sneezes on a DB it is a offensive PI call (happened in the NE game as well), however Dre Bly gets PUSHED DOWN by Reggie Williams and it is some how defensive holding, unbelievable!
Yeah normal every day bad calls are one thing, but this has been something more. I have watched a lot of seasons of football, and this year has had just a ridiculous number of just flat out terrible calls. Both in Broncos games and in football all over, both pro and college. Not just bad calls but game changing calls. Plus most bad calls come and go with out much hub bub outside of the two cities involved. The Hochuli call got national attention so you know every ref in the nation saw it and had to hear about how bad officials are and how they do nothing but mess up good games, and you know that at least subconsciously that biases them against the Broncos even though the Broncos had nothing to do with it. It is simple Human Psychology.

There was also the phantom PI call on Marshall against NE

Yeah I knew I would get some of these
We both have an opinion, your smells just as good as mine ;) In fact I just took a shower so…
Anyways, I thinkn it iteresting that even the AP story thought the officiating was suspect, and the tv crew calling the game also thought so, so I know I am not the only one.
As I said in the second comment, the Broncos let the refs off the hook a little bit with terrible third down defense and dropped passes, but no doubt the referee induced 10 point turn around didn’t help either.

As much as I'd love to agree
that the pass interference was a terrible call, I can’t… Borderline, perhaps, but Bmarsh stuck out his hand and pushed the CB to gain separation; it’s a play that might not draw a flag half the time, but should. We had NO rushing game today…none. Cutler looked skittish and the receivers dropped some balls. And while the defense made strides, especially against the run, and Peyton Hillis was a force, we didn’t deserve to win today. I didn’t think the reffing was that bad today, and I don’t think it’s to blame for the L.

I don't think it was a shove...
I think he was just finding the defensive player – kind of like a hand check in basketball. Looking at the replay, it doesnt look like he put any force into it, the DB just acted it out really well.

What I saw...
As BMarsh was making his move to get past the defender, the defender grabbed Marshall’s jersey and gave it a tug (Defensive Holding) but it may have still been in the 5 yard zone so maybe it was okay.
Marshall then stick his hand out (enough to swat at a fly, MAYBE) and the DB veers off course and falls down. Even Gumbel and Deirdorf were shocked (and if CBS announcers were on the Broncos side, it must have been an obvious bad call)!
This didn’t cost them the game, just another nail in the coffin!

It is very interesting that ever since Cutler
made the comments about his arm better than Elway’s, he hasn’t been playing well. I know that some of our key offensive players were missing, however it is just something to look at.
I didn’t watch the game so how in the world would we not get 20 yards rushing?
Refs aren’t the problem. We just can’t stop giving the ball to the other team. That keeps happening and we won’t win another game.

Pittman got hurt and was out
in the second quarter. Torain isn’t quite ready for more than a handful of carries,a nd Hall was only asked to come in for a couple of passing plays. We are screwed at the RB position. Torain can’t learn the job fast enough to make me happy.

Torain's also got that bulky brace on.
It would be hard for him to stiffarm, let alone hold a ball in that arm. He’ll pick it up in a couple of weeks. Just give it time. He probably won’t see a lot of time on Thursday, but come next Sunday, he will be ready.

Lets not blame ref's calls....
We should never have been in the position against Jacksonville, Kansas or Miami for blown calls to cost us the game. Blame incompetence of our offense and questionable game planning.
We have had some bad calls, but these are a non issue if we punch the ball in for points and not turn it over.
Weazel, agreed. Cutler has looked like a bottom tier QB since those comments. It is unwise to mess with the football gods when you have not earned your stripes.
