Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Homesick: Can we please protect our house?

The Denver Broncos have always been a solid team at home.  They have had a few 8-0 seasons at home under Shanahan, however we are far from that now.  Ever since the 2005 AFC Championship Game we are a measly 9-7 at home.  The previous three seasons ('03 - '05) we went 20-2 at home.  I know we are in a rebuilding mode, however we should be able to do better.

We have lost 3, repeat that 3 straight losses at home.  That is something that is totally unacceptable.  I am not expecting us to go perfect at home, however there is something wrong and I just don't understand why.  Is it the crowd or do the players/ coaching staff get complacent?  We need to do something like start playing every home game like it is a playoff game.

i think its crowd/building

mile high stadium was 1 of the loudest stadiums in the nfl. invesco has only 1 more seat and so the noise is spread out more. if pat bowlen could add more seats, i think it would make an impact. i dont care what the broncos do, but this NEEDS to be fixed

Mile High was loud for sure

this is from Wikipedia…On October 1, 2000, Broncos fans sustained the world’s loudest roar for 10 seconds, with a reading of 128.74 decibels, beating the previous world record by 3.34 decibels.

There you have it!

why did they build invesco in the 1st place?

with crowd noise like that every game, we should be undefeated at home.

More income

More luxury boxes. More corporate environment. More revenue. Basically everything wrong with the NFL. We want Mile High back!!

If Mike Shanahan were a hotdog, would you eat him? I know I would. Hell, I'd eat him twice.

I will answer that from an engineering point

Having worked on some additions to the old Mile High and getting to tour the stadium when I was not busy testing or inspecting something, I will say that the old mile high was very outdated, the electrical system was a joke and a hazard, basically they would just run new wires every time something went out so no one knew where anything went and you had a giant mess, the steel was starting to wear and would of needed to be retrofitted or replaced at a huge expense, the facilities (bathrooms) were something you may find in Juarez bar, looker rooms were something slighlty above a high school locker room, basically, not feasible to maintain long term. In addition, to the obvious reasons to generate more money from luxury suites and concessions. I just think they really blew it when they didn’t expand the new mile high and add 10,000 or so more seats, I think that was Bowlen way to try to drive off the blue collar fans and get the wine and cheese crowd in. But that being said, the old Mile High had a special place and feeling the stadium shake was amazing, although somewhat scary after taking structural engineering. I have to say I got to go around the old mile high a few times and talk with the care takers, and it really was a holy place.

Rec'd

That must have been something, being in the “heart” of old mile high.

Thankfully all the fans who attended over the years took up residence in its soul. They destroyed a lot when they destroyed that old stadium, for better or worse. It is of course something we have to live with, but I think there were just too many compromises made in the way they moved on.

May the Broncos live in Denver forever, and may the next Mile High be done right for another generation.

I've never been to Invesco

and had only 3 games at Mile High under my belt (give me props, though, I traveled from Chicago/Columbus to get to three games), but I have to ask… would Mile High have made a difference on Sunday? Enough to overcome all the deficiencies that reared their ugly heads and erase a 21 point deficit? I highly doubt it…

The 12th man/woman (being PC, hehe) can certainly make a difference, but the team playing horribly inconsistently is the main problem!

Sadly, I stopped spending a gajillion dollars to travel to Denver, to stay at a hotel, to pay for tickets when the Broncos also got blown out by the Raiders in like 94 or something like that.

I know that we aren't a good team,

yet in ‘03 and ’04 we weren’t a totally solid team as evident by our blowout losses to the Colts, however we were able to win at home consistently. We should at least be able to do that now.

Whatever is the reason………the losing at home needs to stop.

Hey, Who Cares?

I don’t care how many games Denver wins at home vs. on the road! I just want a superbowl win every year! Pure and simple, EVERY YEAR!

by metalman5050 on Nov 26, 2008 8:01 PM MST reply actions

i disagree

if Denver goes 8-0 at home and lets say 4-4 0n the road thats a bye in the first round of the playoffs and that makes winning the super bowl easier

somethings wrong, Trying to conquer these fears i thought were gone. And it's been so long, I'm dying to live in a world i don't belong
