Broncos @ Jets -- Postgame Thoughts
WOW!!! A huge win in a crazy stadium! The Broncos played very well today. Here are just some quick thoughts.
JAY CUTLER WAS AWESOME: He took what was given to him and made the bigs play. Well, except for the pick. Job well done Jay!
Defense was also awesome: They did a good job containing Favre the whole game. Of corse, they did give up some big plays, but keep in mind, these are a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers. Haggan and the corners stepped up today and made they plays they had to.
PEYTON HILLIS NEXT GREAT RB?: Over 129 yards and a score against the 3rd best run D. I think if Hills can run like this consistantly, which he has been doing, Shanny wont draft an RB until the 2nd day of the draft.
CHAD JACKSON CAN FLY: On that screen I thought nobody was gonna stop him. The Broncos should make some more plays up around that guy.
There was just one problem I had in today's game: Why didn't we run the ball more in the 3rd quarter? I guess Bates just wanted to end it early or something, but i disagree with that in the 3rd quarter.
Overall I give the Broncos a solid A. They got the win when they had to in a tough road environment. They protected the ball and got the win. Now lets win one at home Broncos! That's all. GO BRONCOS!!!

I can't see how it can get any better
There’ll always be something to fix. We beat a team who the tabloids couldn’t help but putting in the superbowl…
Remember: New England won 18 last year; Oakland's won 19 in a half-decade

Nice post Boy!
I agree on the 3rd quarter. Especially with Hillis really battering that Jets line. I also thought it may have been a good time for a change of pace in Tatum Bell. The Jets line was tired and they could have been gashed.
Apart from that, a great game.
Has anyone heard on Larsen’s injury? It did not look good.

I also agree on the third quarter.
At least we toned down the game, and trusted the running portion. It was a big improvement over playcalling earlier in the season. I would have liked more running later in the game, but at least it wasn’t all “pass and pray” as it has been.
Good stuff BB!

I would say a good game, not great
Jay played very well in the 1st half, the 3rd quarter and most of the 4th he was frustrating, still making poor choices, the pass play to Scheffler was a good example, granted it was complete, but that is a play that will end badly nine time out of ten, he still needs to understand the game and situation, when to throw the ball away and take the points or field position. Play calling in the third quarter was also puzzling, I would have liked to see more swing passes to Hillis and let him run over DBs, that was open all day and would of been demoralizing to the Jets. Defense stepped up, pressure generally was better and coverage generally was better, still allowed the Jets to march up and down the field too many times, but they stopped them when it mattered, and credit to them. Kick offs were lousy, but punting was great, Kern made a play to save the game in the third quarter. So credit to Kern.

Thats what makes Jay great at the same time....
These recievers play for him. Good play by Sheffler and good work by Jay to keep it alive. 99% of QB’s cant make that throw.
We have another 13 seasons of this type of play by Jay….hes noy going to change and I think Shanny is comforatble with it.
As Tom Jackson said; when Jay is on he does things other QB’s cant….if the kids gets on a role so follows the team, and the sky is the limit….this season included.

But 100% of quarterbacks...
…cant make that throw more than 15-20% of the time at best.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

i agree
that we need to get Chad Jackson more involved. Hes a hybrid of Bmarsh and eddie. Just not quite as big as Bmarsh and not quite as fats as eddie.

Great post broncoboy - Thanks
On that interception I was convinced that LetPlummerPlay had taken control of the Broncos and Plummer was back in. Yes, Cutler played great, but I hope Coach Shanahan points out this error. I THINK HE WILL!!!

Marshall has been the most suspect and I wonder if the laceration from the offseason has had more of an affect on him than he has let on.

Maybe this season has just made me gun shy...
But I would have liked to have seen Tatum bell get a few more carries in the 4th. When I saw Hillis get injured at First I thought oh no here we go again.

Was Tatum Bell active?
He had no carries (only Hillis and Cutler had carries). PJ Pope was active – he made a tackle (on special teams, i presume).
