So I was wrong
Oh boy was I ever wrong. I spend the whole week arguing that we should scale down the runs - especially to Hillis since he's our best back, and everything would come crashing down with him on IR.
I'm hereby officially sorry for wasting your time. You guys were completely right, running the ball has way to much upside. Hillis and that O-line really stuck it to the 5th ranked rushing defense (according to DVOA, ofc). I think i noticed Kris Jenkins have one tackle.
And the passprotection! I noticed one time, maaaaaaybe two, where Cutler faced pressure. It was Clady getting beat inside, btw.
The inside rushing succes and the Cutler clean-ness with Kris Jenkins on the field leads me to give the gameball to Casey Wiegmann - the best, by large margin, FA-signing... And the cheapest, probably.
In other news - i really liked our pass defense. Those guys on defense absorbed tremendous numbers of injuries, and still made Favre look like Vince Young during a math-test or Plaxico Buress in a weapon-store or...I'll stop now. And it wasn't because of protection either, no it was the defensive backs staying tight with an above-average recieving corp.
With those good news, I'll forget to mention the couple of long runs by Jones (Fox didn't impress anyone) and the screen-problems.
Congrats to you guys. 3 games up i the division (hat tip to you, Mr Ryan)! SooOO close... But let's not look past Kansas - look what happened last time. I would really love for the last game i San Diego not to matter - I can't take any more nail-biters.

The great thing about writing about a sports team...
…is that anyone who does so will be wrong an awful lot! You are in good company on that score, so don’t take it hard.

Agreed
And Claus, you are completely right about the line play on Kris Jenkins. Living in the NYC area I have no choice but to catch the Jets every week. I can’t remember hearing his name less, and usually I hear it a whole lot more.
Wiegmann got shoved back a couple times and had the one holding call, but other than that he (and the entire line without using a FB!!) did a great job taking Jenkins out of the game.

On another thread
I offered this link to a really nice article on Wiegmann’s contribution.

Hate to say it
but the only guy that Fox seemed to impress was our own Shanny. He said so right after the game.

He was hit and miss
He is definitely no more than a stopgap. Shanny is starting to be frustrating again, as far as his media comments go. He has always had a thing for declaring his players to be better than they were (and then cutting them a few weeks later), but since the offseason he has been very refreshing in his media presence, most notably in the leadup to the season opener in oakland.
That has all ended in recent weeks and he is back to his shanahanigans with the media. I think it has something to do with his increasing (to my perception at least) re-involvement in the nuts and bolts of the team’s weekly preparations.
Regardless, that is besides the point. I will never know why he gets so infatuated with his players, but he does…

Wasn't it Fox
who was waaay out of position on that long TD run?

Sure was
I think the long pass play that Tillman gave up to the Vikings last night was earily similar to the type of decision that Fox made on that big run.

Thanks Claus
Thats why Shanny is so great…he thinks outside the box and goes against logical thinking.
I thought Fox played OK but I was very impressed with Barrett in his first real action. He is still a diamond in the rough but he showed good tackiling and good speed.
