I continue to encourage patience for our young D-Linemen
It takes several years to get enough strength and technique to be effective against O-Linemen in the NFL. O-Linemen are rarely 1st or 2nd year players, the risk of failure from throwing O-Linemen in the fray is too big.

I thought it was a good game
I’m a little worried that Moss can never be a “whole” DE like Jared Allen, Vanden Bosch, Ekuban, or, yes, what I believe Dumervil is becoming, but the two sacks were encouraging. I accidentally deleted my HD recording of the game (please, don’t ask how) so I can’t go back and see how many snaps he played, but it appeared he had quality ones. I don’t think our pass rush troubles are as dire as they used to be. I would be saying I don’t think our defense is as big of a worry as it used to be, but we just lost Williams for probably four or more weeks. We’ll see how they cope.

He is a pass rush specialist
But he is improving in that role. He’s very quick and explosive off the edge, and as he learns to play with better leverage and hand placement, he’ll be a guy who can reasonably get 12-14 sacks per year playing on passing downs.
He is definitely improving, and it’s definitely encouraging how he has looked the last 3 games.

I think the injury last year really hurt his development
he is definitely getting better and in the future i think we will use crowder in running situations. i really like what i have seen from our whole 07 draft class. we just have to be patient with them.

moss's sacks
one was pennington sliding and moss touching him, the other was a direct snap to brown that he ran. at least he got in the backfield, though. now that we’re rushing 4 guys(woo-hoo!), he should see more playing time, and hopefully improve. at least that is what i hope, anyway

rushing four guys is a funny number
its better than 3 and better than 5… say what?
Well, obviously better than 3, no need to elaborate there, and it is better than 5 since the best pass rushes come from the front four which frees up the back seven to be creative in coverage and get turnovers! :)
But I am getting ahead of myself. Again.

Rush.....four? Turn-overs?
Why, Styg, you may be on to something!! Yes…. this is brilliant! We should e-mail this to the coaches and hope that they can utilize this breakthrough in football scheming!

well, it took slowick a while
to figure it out, so maybe we are geniuses. we seem to be getting better pressure from the front 4, but i’m not sure it’s consistently enough. back to the d-line issues. we may need to send 5 on occasion, but yes, 4 would be ideal. it’s just that we don’t have an ideal front 4, obviously. but getting rid of the 3-man was brilliant, indeed. we’ll see next time we have a good lead if it has disappeared(please, god!) completely. we’ve gone from atrocious to ok, which is improvement in my book. next up; good!
