WANTED: RB... warm bodies needed

I like what I've seen initially from Hillis and I'm not counting him out for being able to suck up the load, BUT...

Anyone have any ideas for scrounging up some RB's right now?  I've heard talk about Mike Bell (loved his hang time going over the pile in goal line situations!), Tatum Bell (fumbleitis?), and others.

We need someone by Monday... who's it gonna be?

BTW - I'm ticked at Shanny for allowing S Young in the game but Selvin needs to step UP and let the coaches KNOW WHAT HIS SITUATION IS!  I believe his desire not to disappoint overrode whatever common sense he had.  Take Champ's lead... his groin injury wasn't that bad in the NE game but he knew not to press it or else a 4 week injury turns into a 2 month injury.

Are there no more warm bodies out there?

I voted for Mike Bell… But only because it was just a choice between the two of them. I would still rather see the Larsen – Hillis smash mouth running game and pick up the big yards in the air.

Pounding the ball like that would open up the passing lanes.

My image is the Circa 1960-’61 Broncos home uniform sock. Some what folk lore to me ... but referred to as the clown sock by my Dad.

Mike Bell yes

Tatum Bell no.

I voted Mike

but I would like to see what HT says which type of RB best fits with our one cut zone block running scheme. Is that what we are still doing? I haven’t seen enough running plays to tell.

That’s ok with me. We’re playing for wins, not media publicity....HT 9/11/08

I think Tatum will never see an NFL field again, like Travis Henry

His stunt of stealing Rudi Johnson’s bag on the way out the door in Detroit showed what a clown that dude is.

How about Lex Hilliard.

Last I heard he was in Miami on the practice squad. He was a fantastic back at the University of Montana.

There is a guy on the New Orleans practice squad we may look at:

Lynell Hamilton, 6’ 0", 235, Rookie, San Diego State

Explosive runner who saw his promising college career limited by knee and ankle injuries…Finished his years with the Aztecs with 2,052 rushing yards on 480 carries for 14 touchdowns and caught 57 passes for 360 yards and three scores…Held to just 56 carries for 146 years in his final two seasons as he battled knee problems after running for 819 yards and nine touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore in 2005, returning from a broken ankle that he suffered as a freshman in ’03…First-team freshman All-American in 2003 and Mountain West Conference freshman of the year, gaining 1,087 yards on 234 carries in just 10 games before missing the final two-plus games due to the ankle break…Majored in sociology at SDSU…Prepped at Edison (Stockton, Calif.) HS where he was an all-league, all-area and SuperPrep All-America selection as he gained over 2,300 yards and scored 29 touchdowns in his final two seasons…Earned four letters in football and track and two more in basketball…Born Aug. 5, 1985 in Stockton, Calif.

Again, an injury concern, but maybe worth a look for short term solution.

Just saw on ESPN

That Pittsburgh released Najeh Davenport.

How would he fit into a one cut system?

I voted Bell, Mike---but only because I don't know what's out there

Running back shoetage never crossed my mind during pre-season—or even when the season started.

The best defense is a good defense!
And last week's young players. Yes!

Other than those two...

Ron Dayne is available of those who clearly fit our system.

Lets use the guys on the PS...

Backfield of Hillis and Boyd.
Keep Selvin until he is fit.

Q?

Whatever happened to Quentin Griffin?

by NZBroncoFan on Nov 8, 2008 10:30 PM MST reply actions

honestly

I dont want either of them. Tatum is a thief and Bell was cut because he fell out of favor with Shanny. I dont see a good end to this situation. I only hope Young can get healthy soon.

BFSISD

The DP is saying that we will NOT sign eother of the Bells. We are looking at Vernand Morency or Ron Dayne apparently.
I think Najeh Davenport would be Ok for us in a pinch.
I agree with you, I am not really down with either Bell.
Quentin Griffin I think WAS playing in Canada but is now done.

I couldn't vote because i couldn't find the "niether" selection.

I do like what Hillis is doing but worry about what we will do when he goes down. I thought that he was Injured there for a minute in the last game, but we got lucky. However, the way our “LUCK” has gone so far, I don’t like his chances if he has to carry the full load for the next 4 games.
