Haynesworth's Trip To Pro Bowl Costs Titans
Tennessee can no longer place the franchise tag on Haynesworth. Should the Broncos go after him??

Uuuummmm...
Yes! The question is do we have the cap room for a guy like that? I don’t know if there is a safety free agent of the status of Haynesworth. That would be a huge get

It was one of the agreements they made
when Haynesworth signed the franchise contract last season. If he made the Pro Bowl, the Titans agreed not to franchise him again.

I have heard of sevaral clauses before, just not that one.
For his sake it is a good one because he will get another long term contract should the Titans keep him or for anyone how signs him and not get that one-year contract thing.

Yes, absolutely...
This player is a game-changer, who is wrongly vilified for one very bad and well-publicized mistake. He was a bit of an underachiever early in his career, but as he has grown up, he brings it on every play, and just DOMINATES. In my opinion he is the most disruptive defensive player in the NFL, and all 32 teams should have interest in him, if they were smart.

Stupid Enter Key
Which would unfortunately drive up the cost for his services (is what I was going to say).
I not sure if the Cowgirls would be interested since a locker room with Haynesworth and Gurode might not be very friendly…

Not all 32 teams
But certainly 20-25 of them.
He’s the best at his position, fairly young… On the minus-side he has some injury-history.
He might just be what this team needs to get over the bumb. I mean we would get pro-bowl performance out of DOOM as well. Look what his presence did to a replacement-level player like Antwaan Odom!
Remember: There’s no need for MLBs and SAFs to make tackles, if the rusher doesn’t get through the line!

Ted
My gut feeling is to say no to Hayensworth. He is exactly what our defensive line needs, but not at the cost of ruining the core of our team: impressionable youth. I was under the assumption that Hayensworth was a bad apple beyond the face stomping episode (which is bad enough by itself). Perhaps I am mistaken.
My first inclination is to say that there is no way such a move would happen. On the other hand, with the close ties between Fisher and Shanahan, someone in the Titan’s organization could whisper to Hayensworth if Shanahan requested it.

I say we trade Champ and get Albert.
He is worth his weight in Gold…as is Champ, cept Albert weights twice as much. :P

I agree on a trade Zappa...
It actually seems pretty obvious to me, but maybe not Haynsworth, maybe not Champ. We also have a bunch of guys on offense that are in Portis-like situations— great young players that are due very large contracts in the next two years. Do you think it is out of question for Shanny to trade a guy like Marshell for an elite DT either this year or next?? I would be wholeheartedly against it because I think breaking up the Jay/Marshell connection would be a huge detriment to our offense, but we’re talking about Shanny here. Unless it was Sundquist pushing for those moves and the Goodmans don’t play like that….

maybe we could get champ to take a pay cut
to get haynesworth in
But before I get all excited…has he changed? It was a bad incident on the field. I never heard anything about him off the field though. so who has a write up on him?
Champ would never take a pay cut....period.

Yes and no.
I think Champ is just the kind of guy that would. Shanny is good at talking guys into cuts, and Bailey is a leader, a “team first guy”, and now has his brother in town. Not only that, if they just contract him to what he’s already making, that’s not a cut. I think that would be a fair way to go.
But I wouldn’t trade him. He’s a known quality.

I disagree.
Shanny is trying to build a Championship Offense and trading BMarsh seems to be self defeating. We already developed him, why dump him? Champ on the other hand isn’t getting any younger and is already making huge money and not currently even playing for us…our problems are against the run game even with Champ OUT of the games. Trade Champ for something moderately valuable and at least take a stab at bidding for Phat Albert.
I just think that trading away our young players is pointless if Shanny is trying to win a Super Bowl. It’s a smart move if all he wants is a slightly above average team…but I think he wants another Super Bowl myself.

NO NO NO
to trading BM and Champ.
We have the cap space to get him.
Bi g YES to Haynesworth then we go Brian Cushing at SLB and Patrick Chung at Safety. Or keep WW at safety (real safety and not 4th LB).

I would say 'No Thanks"
My impression was that he has some baggage. With our youngsters on the front four I would prefer to see a slightly less talented player who is a solid citizen. I think we can do this through the draft rather than FA.
It all starts in the trenches HT 11/11/08
Haynesworth is exactly whom we need..
I’m thrilled he will be available next season.. the cost of another bad year defensively will be to great to even consider not going after Fat Albert.. pay him whatever we have to.. there’s not a single starter on that defensive line and everything starts up front.. we MUST release Bly.. the cap hit is unfortunate but you have to pay for your mistakes sometimes. DRob is very average, he can go too.. between those two salaries we can afford a real player – it’s painfully obvious we have no clue how to draft defensively, it has to be in free agency and via the trade.. who else will be available for defensive lineman in free agency?
D Rob has been very good for us for minimal cost. WIth him, Thomas and Hayneworth we would be set.

I dont care how much the broncos spend but we gotta get this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No.
The Raiders need him! Him and about a new o-line and recievers.
lol classic!
Why would you want the Raiders and Al Davis ruin his career like they did to Warren Sapp? :P
