The Upcoming Shoot-out

                                                                                                                        WARNING:

Do not  assume there is any logic in this post.

I will try not to exude too much irrational exuberance on this upcoming shoot-out.  Most of you know that I try to keep a positive outlook for both upcoming and games in progress, but I am human, and  shaken by what happened last Sunday. The way we dominated Buffalo the first half we should have started the second half 21-3 not 13-10. We should have started the second half with the Bills just wanting to go home, but we didn't--and this is old news--well covered by many of the great contributors at this site.    Old news is just that--old news. What happened Sunday must be forgotten.  Therefore I move forward and have come to this conclusion:

                                                                                                          We Will Beat San Diego!

                                                                                                                          Period!

This is what we will see this next week. Ridicule of us getting into this situation, endless number of Jekyll and Hyde stories, and adulation of San Diego staying the course. There will be stories of all our injuries, Jay's inconsistancey, how good we will be next year, and why San Diego will whip us. The unlearned bloggers at D-Post and RMN will begin their regular chants for Shanny's head, Slowik's head, and any other head they can decapitate to vent their unlearned frustration. None of this will matter, none of these stories will be relevant after the shoot-out--the reason being:

                                                                                                          We Will Beat San Diego!

                                                                                                                          Period!

This is going to be a shoot-out, an 'OK Coral' caliber shoot out, and when you have a shoot-out like like this anything can happen. Few teams have had trouble scoring on the Chargers. Few teams have had problems scoring on us. This is going to be a really fun game--I don't blame NFL execs for moving it to 8:15.....

In a shoot-out like this you have to look at the chips--not where chips fall-- chips on shoulders. San Diego has a pretty big chip, they feel that the 'fumble/incomplete pass/blown dead/sack/bad call' is the only reason we won our first meeting. Pretty big chip--and they are right--but oh well. Great catch  Eddie--by the way--on that two point conversion!

Before we look at others chips, let's look at  gunslingers, all good shoot-outs need gunslingers.  When it comes to gun slingers--they know they are good. Most will mouth they are good--that is why they are gunslingers. The big difference in gunslingers is that some have class...and some don't.

Back to chips, not where chips fall, chips on shoulders.  San Diego has a big chip, bad call...but on who's shoulder? No-one and everyone at the same time....thus nobody! This is why we will win!   A young gunslinger, hired by a group called the Broncos a few years ago,  knowing he wasn't feeling well, went into a house last year, got slapped down, embarrassed and then ridiculed by the house's resident gunslinger.

This Gunslinger has a lot of class, in know way would ever think vengence--but he still sees the chip on his shoulder.

                                                                                                           We Will Beat San Diego!

                                                                                                                            Period!

I consider posts like these to be the necessary balance

to fend off what the MSm feels obligated to write up. Between the two sparring ideas of negativity and positivity others can take advantage of the shelter provided to make whatever reasoned cases they can come up with, leaning in either direction.

But without posts like these to act like a ‘breakwater’ against the tides of negativity, the harbor of civility that is MHR would have trouble existing. Thanks Mike.

compared to 2nd game

Below are some comparisons from week 2 matchup vs now.

Bronco running back core was better in game 2.
SD defense was better in game 2
Bronco defense was about the same
Bronco passing offense (Royal etc.) now has more experience [better now]
SD offense about the same.
ST similar to game 2

Victor Frankl:

What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.

Actually

SD’s offense is tearing it up thru the air right now. They weren’t really doing that then.

But we will still win. Then we will shock the world and get to the AFC championship game. Unfortunately we will lose that game because Cutler and BMarsh miss the game due to an overbooking of interviews and commercial shoots. But regardless of that, we get to the championship! (And also the BMarsh commercial is REAL funny, which makes it almost worth it)

I think SD will have a slow start like they did against KC two weeks ago and in week two against us.

Its going to be a high scoring game where we jump out with a big lead—maybe three touchdowns. The difference with this upcoming game and week two is Cutler and company will not have a third quarter let-down and let them back in the game.

The best defense is a good offense!

After getting that big lead

they need to keep their foot on the throttle and keep doing what they were doing to get to that point!

NO SOFT ZONES ONCE WE HAVE THE LEAD! KEEP PRESSING! DON’T LET THEM BACK INTO IT!

Nice post Mike Clark

I think we can win too, on the back of Cory Boyd and some turnovers by the D! Then Cutler will shred them!
