Broncos Add RBs Boyd and Haynes to the Active Roster

The Denver Broncos on Tuesday signed running backs Cory Boyd and Alex Haynes to their active roster, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced.

Boyd (6-foot-1, 218 pounds) is a rookie who joins Denver's active roster from its practice squad. Originally signed to the Broncos' practice squad on Nov. 4, Boyd spent five weeks with that unit before he was signed to their active roster on Dec. 9. He was inactive for Denver's game at Carolina on Dec. 14 and spent last week on the Broncos' practice squad.

Selected by Tampa Bay in the seventh round (238th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from the University of South Carolina, Boyd participated in the Buccaneers' offseason camps but was waived on July 26. He played 46 career games (27 starts) for the Gamecocks and finished his collegiate career with 464 rushes for 2,267 yards (4.9 avg.) with 23 touchdowns along with 117 receptions for 1,303 yards (11.1 avg.) with five scores.

Boyd attended Orange High School in Orange, N.J., and was born on Aug. 6, 1985.

Haynes (5-foot-10, 230 pounds) is a second-year player who originally signed with the Broncos on Nov. 4 but was waived on Nov. 22. Haynes, who competed in Baltimore's 2008 training camp, entered the NFL with the Ravens in 2005 as a college free agent from the University of Central Florida.

He has seen time on the rosters of Baltimore (2005, '08) and Carolina (2005-07) during his NFL career and has appeared in nine career games, rushing three times for three yards and catching three passes for 14 yards. He also owns three career tackles on special teams.

Haynes, who played for Cologne in NFL Europe during its 2006 season, finished his collegiate career at Central Florida as its all-time leading rusher (3,356 yards).

Born Feb. 13, 1982, Haynes attended Maynard Evans High School in Orlando, Fla.

We should give Mark Teixeira 180 million...

…and stick him in the backfield! Have you seen how agile he is at first? He could be the most expensive Peyton Hillis ever! ;D

Jules: Tell 'em, Vincent.
Vincent: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese.
Jules: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese! You know why they call it that?
Brett: Because of the metric system?
Jules: Check out the big brain on Brett! You're a smart mother******. That's right. The metric system.

I think we need to spend a combined $423.5 million at running back next year.

Good God. How many people will start for us that none of us have heard of before?

This is my GAP, there are many like it but this one is mine. Without my GAP I am useless, without me, they will run through my GAP. I will protect my GAP and have my brothers back on his. I will not be moved from my GAP, I am a crazed dog that patrols this area and will defeat all who entire it. I own this GAP, it is mine. I bought it with blood and sweat. I will not be pushed. I will not be moved. This Sunday I will make a stand and a statement.

I wonder if we should rename the Running Back position to the following:

R.I.P. = Running In Pain

It’s like a freakin’ death sentence to all running backs not named Tatum Bell. lol Jeez!

Practice Squad RBs

Are we going to add more running backs to the practice squad for playoff reinforcements?

Just heard that

Steven Baylark is getting another shot on the practice squad after he was waived from it when we resigned boyd to it.
Also a WR was signed to the PS.

I am calling it now....

Cory Boyd to start and to carry this team on his back.
Pinnock will pulverise his oold team, and Cutler will go to town on the secondary.
Come Monday, we will ask why we did not start Boyd and Pinnock before.
Now make my dream complete and play the Storming Mormon at MLB!

Just thought I would mention

something about when the Sparklers claimed Michael Bennett so we wouldn’t get him. I would love to ask AJ Smith about this move now. Since then he hasn’t played in one game for SD. I am sure most of you aren’t surprised, I just thought I would mention it. One more reason to dispise them and their organization.

the what if’s surrounding the scenario of Denver acquiring Bennet are delectable…

Yep AJ stands for Arse Job...

Hes a prick, and his attitude permeates thru the organization.
I hate these guys more than i hate the Pats…and it was not this way at the start of the season!

Who wants to take bets for when they go down?

I’m guessing Boyd rips off 50 or so yards in the 1st quarter, then blows out his pelvis.

Haynes, on the other hand, will be a solid 38 yards on 6 carries. He will promptly explode on the seventh carry.

ha!

very funny, binford, yet unsettling. is boyd actually playing, and if not, who besides bell is in, including fb? is it boyd and pinnock? do they have injury histories(seriously)? any update on larsen’s health? just trying to see who i’m pinning my hopes on running the ball on sunday, if anyone knows. i don’t see tatum lasting the game(or not fumbling), if he is the only back.

hear me, perpetrators of bread crime, your punishment is at hand.

Pinnock, Larsen, Boyd and Bell will be active...

But I am hopeful that Larsen goes back to MLB and is there as a back up for Pinnock!

yes, please larsen at mlb

and dress all the rb’s, we may need every one! i guess haynes is depth in case we win and advance, then. bell should be pretty good at rb, but i’m curious to see what boyd can bring. i hope he runs hard, this is not going to be a game for the weak.
