Jeremy Bates gets a raise!
After doing my daily scan of Rotoworld I bumped into something I found quite interesting...
Broncos offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates was given a raise and a contract extension after flirting with the University of Tennessee.
Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin presumably wanted Bates to run the Vols' offense and Bates was reportedly "seriously" considering it, but Denver's offer was too good. Bates also probably realized that Tennessee is far from guaranteed success in the SEC.
Kiffin's got a strong staff, but has an uphill battle for both recruits and wins against NFL-caliber players.
So the former Raider got wise and he is officially poaching our staff. Thoughts anyone?

Jules: Tell 'em, Vincent.
Vincent: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese.
Jules: A (Eddie) Royale with cheese! You know why they call it that?
Brett: Because of the metric system?
Jules: Check out the big brain on Brett! You're a smart mother******. That's right. The metric system.
I'm glad he's staying....I would like to see us stay with the same coaching staff for a while
maybe they can develope some cohesion as a group
The best defense is a good offense!
He will be good...
But he needs some leadership from a high level OC to help him develop quickly.
I want a top quality DC and let SLo go back to be DB coach.
I like Turner, I like Dennison (outstanding job with our O Line).
GOOD BYE SCOTT OBRIEN…our ST sucks big time and this guy has them playing negatively. Example: Royal waves off virtually EVERY kick, the kick off plan last week was abysmal, bad coverage on kicks…..the ST has not got any better under O Brien!
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Cohesion.......well said.
We can’t expect to improve if we are constantly changing our coaches every year or so.

Cutler's 4th qtr/OT game winning drives: 9
good, he is the only one who deserves it
hear me, perpetrators of bread crime, your punishment is at hand.
taste my blintzkrieg!
Maybe someone can explain
Why in all the games we have WON this season, we have had a balanced running game, and in the ones we have lost, it seems like Cutler throws EVERY down, with not even so much as a feint that we might run.
If all these throwing games, like the Raiders#2, where we were going deep right EVERY time, and picking up NO yards, were called by Bates, why do we want to keep him so bad? I agree whole-heartedly with continuity. We can’t fire a guy after one bad game, otherwise he has no chance to learn and grow. But is it too much to ask to see a little game plan adjustment? Is it Bates, Shanahan, or someone else that is failing to recognize a faulty gameplan at half time, or to recognize a good one (read: the Buffalo game in the 1st quarter) and stick with it? Did Buffalo really figure us out? It looked like we just stopped running without them having to adjust (granted, there were injuries to 2 starting RBs…)
