Enigma
ENIGMA
An enigma (from Greek αἴνιγμα) is a puzzle, something mysterious or inexplicable, or a riddle or difficult problem.
If we win tonight does anyone know how that affects our position in the draft? I've been trying to research it and found this:
Rules for determining draft order
The draft order is determined by first generating the order for the first round. That order is based generally on each team's regular season record, except as noted below:
- The winners of the Super Bowl are given the last selection, and the losers the second to last selection.[2]
- Remaining teams are sorted by regular season record, with worse records picking first, regardless of playoff status; teams that make the playoffs can't pick before teams that do not.
Does anyone know where our pick would be if we win tonight and if we lose tonight?
I think we will win tonight--but if we don't--what change if any would that make in our draft order?

Well
12 teams make the playoffs, so if we make the playoffs we would pick at the earliest at 20, if we make it to the Super Bowl we would pick either 31/32 depending if we wi or lose, if we lose we would be 8-8 and depending on results of todays game we would probably pcik somewhere between 12 to 16, depending on tie breakers and coin flips.

Of interesting note
Looking at some of the mock drafts (take with a big grain of salt), if we lose, we might be looking at someone like Beanie Wells RB from Ohio State, if we win, probably James Larenitus MLB from Ohio State.

Well, then let's win. We need a middle linebacker

From what you said,
it makes no difference if we make the playoffs. I just did some quick standings counting and it appears approx. 22 teams will finish 9-7 or worse and approx. 14 teams will finish 8-8 or worse. So, if we lose we would pick somewhere between 11-15 and if we win we would pick somewhere between 14-22 (there will be quite a few 9-7 teams this year), depending on tiebreakers, coin flips, etc.

Except playoff teams pick last, so even if we finish 9-7 we would pick after the likes of New England
and the Jets

So it could be the difference of probably 8 to 10 slots depending on tie-breakers

Just looking at the standings...
Buffalo and SF are tied in the 10th and 11th draft pick locations. Strength of schedule will tie-break that.
Afterwards, Denver is tied in the slots 12-15 with Washington, New Orleans and Houston. Once again, strength of schedule will tie-break it. Given the Broncos easier draw, I would not be surprised to see them drafting at 12 but i couldn’t find a website that showed what it was. Playing the AFC West twice would help that somewhat. The other three teams are in pretty nasty divisions – NO played the AFC west too so they are probably right after Denver.
Anyway… I just got back from watching the game and I’m bummed!! Proud of Jay and the team though. They tried hard and they moved the ball well. Hopefully that draft slot is going to get a stud!!

Now if only we can find an Australian who can run and tackle in the NFL and show these Yanks what we're made of.
