Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

It's official!!! 2008 is dead

First of all let's say our condolences to a SEASON that :

1. ...made us hold our breath. (Ok... that's just about every Bronco season)

2. ...was supposed to be a wash out, which we expected... well at least off and on we did!!! (rebuilding)

3. ...gave us hope!!! (perhaps it was too much too soon, but then how do you tell your players to follow a script?)

4. ...gave us Royal, Clady, Hillus and Torain and Woodyard, and more, WAHOO er....I mean... wait a minute am I getting excited about 2009? SORRY

5. ... gave us a chance at trying out a first class, straight up, out of the box, stark raving mad, AWESOME offense???OH YAH!!!!

Ok I know I sound a little giddy after an ugly loss but let's be real this wasn't Denver's Superbowl year and we all knew it!!! You can be mad at the Chargers and their mega- personalities and how they won but I say let them have it,let them have it!!! Hopefully they can make something of this year. Maybe they can get to their first Superbowl, I really am not trying to sound condescending. I know they don't have a chance but there is a time for mercy. We have known what it is like to be in the big party and they never have, maybe never will.  I hope these guys can make their mark but I am afraind they already have. So while they cherish a lop-sidied win against our diminished team, let's hope the best for them. And I mean it.!!!

You are a great fan. I am being very honest. I respect your love for your team. It is almost as big as mine is for my team. I salute you.

Really?

Torain…are we really looking at Ryan Torain as something the 2008 Broncos season gave us. In all 1 quarter of action he logged this year, you’ve determined he has a future? Maybe next year, maybe never but hardly in 2008…

I agree with that...

But I get the point of what he is saying…

Colts

1. The Colts are going to pound the Chargers.

2. The Chargers beat us when we were banged up, but lost to us when we were healthy earlier in the year. Next year, if we are healthy, I don’t think they will have that easy of a time beating us.

3. In 09, Shanahan’s seat should be STEAMING HOT!!!! If this team does this next year, it is time to get rid of him.

Great Post

It’s so easy to forget to put things in perspective. During the off-season, who thought we would get swept by the Chargers? Who thought that we would win the AFC West of get into the post season? Who thought that we would have such a knock out stellar draft?

Hell if we have as good of a defensive draft as we did an offensive draft in 2008, look out. Really, the Broncos did what we thought they would do. It was a shame that the defense played their worst game on the last game of the season, but we deserved to lose. We looked out of place, no one maintained their gaps, we over-pursued; really the epitimy of what we had done all year – just magnified.

I look at this year as a success. We focused on offense in the off-season and for good reason; we’ve now seen that our offense is here to stay for the next 10 years. Let’s remember we finished better than we did last year too.

Great post and rec!

Kudos!

Posts like this are why I love MHR. And such a breath of fresh air after wallowing in all the negativity in the DP this morning (I know, I know, I should stop reading Kis, but I guess I’m a glutton for punishment). Great job, LWTG.

Also wanted to say kudos and major props to TSG, HT, and all of the regular contributors that make this site what it is for giving us a banner year for coverage and perspective. Best analysis around from true, die hard fans. Thank you!!

I laughed aloud when I read the giddy comment about being psyched for next year, because I really am, guys. We seem to have most of the pieces in place offensively — if we can dial up a good defensive draft. IMHO, we need more than a few good gap fillers this time — we need maybe two passionate game changers at DL and SS to complement Champ and Dre and our young LBs. Who fits that mold? I’d love to see us get someone like Colt Anderson from Montana, an every down, fiery hitter. But I’m a little Griz-biased, I guess. ; ) Or that DE from Richmond? Small schools but potentially a big upside. Just thinking out loud.

Happy new year everyone!

#12 puts the Broncos...

in range of several very strong defensive prospects

I noted in another blog I'm a member of . . .

. . . that I’m calling this Denver season “The Abortion That Is The 2008 Denver Broncos”. Yes, I’m bitter. But the idiom stays. This season was full of promise, full of energy, full of . . . nothing. And that’ll probably be how I remember this season for the rest of my life.

What happened last night does not change my position that Philip Rivers is not a Pro Bowl-caliber QB and never will be (in my opinion). Face it – if we have Rivers and they had Cutler, the Chargers would’ve gone 12-4; the Broncos? Maybe 4-12.

I’m hoping our post-Easter gift is a durable running back that will undoubtedly carry the bulk of the load for a full season. Problem is . . . these guys don’t grow on trees, and Terrell Davis is not walking through that door. So where’s this guy gonna come from? Good question. Your guess is as good as mine.

But like all others, regardless of the offseason moves . . . I’m excited for 2009. It can’t come soon enough.

I don't mean to nitpick

Great post, but may I point out one error. “Maybe they can get to their first Superbowl” – The Dolts are 0-1 in the big dance, they made it to & lost in SB XXIX in 1995 to the 49ers. Perhaps you meant to say, maybe they can win their first superbowl, although that’s a long-shot and IMO, they won’t have a true chance at their 1st Lombardi Trophy with the team they have now. They missed their shot with this squad. I think they will continue their slide down for another year or 2 and have to begin their rebuild. Maybe in 5-10 years they might have a shot, although it could be as the Las Vegas Chargers (or some other city) if they continue to fail to sell-out their stadium on a regular basis. Hope you enjoy this AFC West title Dolts fans, I have a feeling it will be the last one for a while. Have fun battling the Chiefs for the #2 spot in the next several seasons. At least Al Davis is still alive, so I don’t think you’ll fall to the cellar, although Al’s been looking pretty rough lately….

In retrospect

My comment there was pretty inane. “Hur I’m just as smart as you but slower, hur.” It did bug me when I read the first 7 comments and no one mentioned it though.
