I'm conflicted
Well, it’s time to move on. The best 11 guys definitely weren’t on the field against SD when our D was on, what happened to WW, Larsen and Barrett? There’s no way Webster should have been allowed back on the field after he recovered from his injury. And SD was playing 8 Dbacks, why did we run the ball only 8 times? Tatum was ripping up their D, had two long runs. I think Mike simply ran out of ideas as the injuries took their toll and then he ran out of steam. It’s a pity because he has been a great coach and his job this year was tremendous given the difficulty of losing 16 guys to the IR, but the play calling and personnel decisions were bad to awful the last quarter of the season.
I hope we get ourselves a great OC (Martz?) to continue to develop Cutler and the receiving corps and hire a killer defensively-minded head coach (Spagnalo?) to raise the bar back to where it belongs.
But thanks to Mike for 14 thrilling years.
If people aren't supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat??

I was never one calling for Mikes job.
That said, I believe that Slowik had too many shortcomings to continue as DC. His inabiliy to adjust to game conditions, his inability to time or find a blitz. At one time during the game, I posted, Slowik shows blitz, then rushes three. Another big play by San Deigo. If Shanahan couldnt see this and find a better answer, or at least entertain the idea of a change, then his ego has overcome his genuis.

Cowboys just got a good coach
I’d bet Jerry Jones is already on the phone talking to Shanahan. He could make Dallas a powerhouse for the next 3-5 years. Probably will get in a bidding war with the Jets, and maybe a couple other teams that currently have coaches. Could see the Jags, Skins, and maybe even the Bucs make a strong play for him. At the moment, I think 10+ teams have some pretty serious interest.
Broncos will have trouble winning more than 3 next season.

The offense as we know it
may not be what the new Bronco offense is all about. Who knows what scheme we will run next season and how that will affect our star offense. We may ride our O for 1 more year or we may completely scrap it all and start over. Talent doesn’t always mean everything, look at the Lions they ahve had talented offenses and done nothing due to poor coaching. We may be in the same boat soon.
On the other hand the new guy could come in and let Bates do the O and just try and make something out of nothing with our D. I think this is our best case scenario, in which case we’ll be a 9 win team next year minimum.
