"I've never seen anybody do what he's done as a rookie," Shanahan said. "He doesn't have penalties; doesn't have missed assignments. We don't double- team his guy. Sometimes a guy will have a good year because we double-team to that side. We've done that over the last five or six years. To not have to double-team people, to just say, 'Hey, you've got that guy regardless of who it is,' that doesn't happen in this league because there's too many top players.
"And to have your left tackle block the best guys, the best rushing defensive ends or outside linebackers, and do it in preseason and regular season, is something that doesn't happen very often."

Does anybody know how much
the Browns “double-teamed” to Joe Thomas’ side last year? You know just to put it in perspective?
If Clady doesn’t make it to the pro bowl this year it will be absolutely criminal. He has allowed less sacks than Thomas did last year and Clady is far superior when it comes to run-blocking!
Remember: New England won 18 last year; Oakland's won 19 in a half-decade

can we throw out the wonderlic test, now?
i mean, thank god they have it, because it helped him slip to our pick. but i’m still trying to figure out how he went from #1 in many publications, out of the top 10 2 months later. a junior with 1 year at LT may have had something to do with it, also, and the weak conference. but i don’t think any of us dreamed of him playing this well from the get-go. jay cutler’s best friend
