Webster for running back
Hello:
I was reading
KRIEGER: Bronocs' motley crew still finding ways to winBy Dave Krieger, Rocky Mountain News
Below is an interesting portion of the article:
Having brought Larsen across the line of scrimmage from linebacker the last time the Broncos ran out of runners, I thought I should check with Nate Webster, a bowling ball of a middle linebacker. Could he pull off the same trick in a pinch?
"Yeah, man, why not?" Webster said. "I've got a little history of toting that ball. You seen what I could do when I picked it up vs. the Saints. I'd probably get my head tore off, but if they call for me to fill that void, I will."
Question:
Would we be better off having Webster as running back and have someone else take his position at defense (with better gap control)?
Thanks

AT LEAST HE IS A BRONCO,
but Natalie Webster reeks on all three sides of the ball and thankfully, is not needed. Selvin Young is coming back, P.J. Pope has done some good things, and Shanny thinks Pinnock now has the plays down — he will be the big meat if they need it.

DJ Williams played FB in high school at De La Salle
He was the nations top rated FB when he went to Miami, maybe that is where we need to look.

Yes, after yesterday it’s hard to consider him at MLB. Actually, by some measures he nearly didn’t, having just .5 tackles for the day.
Shanahan said yesterdya that they would probably call up Cory Boyd from the PS. At 6’1 215 and a punishing one-cut style runner with good hands out of the backfield, Boyd could be another of our undrafted or PS players that step in and step up.
He doesn’t know anything but 100 percent

At what point...
Do you, as an FA running back, hesitate when you see Denver come up on your caller ID?

Haha.
"Darrell Hackney hooks up with Chad Jackson on a 63 yard pitch n' catch to put the Broncos up by 21. San Diego would add a late TD, but Denver was in total control. They finish 11-5 with the 3 seed and have a playoff home game against New England. Tom, who would have thought that Denver, loses to Oakland and K.C., but winds up the the # 3 seed!" "Well, when you look at the Denver Broncos, what stands out is that offensive line and Jay Cutler. If they're on, only Pittsburgh really has a shot at stopping that offense." - Week 17

Odd Year for RB Injuries
Perhaps Oakland broke out their Vodoo doll.

lol
they are going to upgrade Boyd from the practice squad and he is going to refuse to come in. They will have to send SWAT to his house…

No way
Know why ? he has no running back experience at all the minute he fumbles at a critical
juncture of a important game it probably will kill us. And then people will be calling
for his head . keep him to his backup linebacker duties; and then let him leave denver
quietly.

All those missed Tackles
would start to be good! Webster wouldn’t shy away from contact, and he has an uncanny ability to avoid tackles. Hmmm…

He avoids tackles about as well as Webster. I could vote for that.
