I really wish I could throw an actual ticker at you guys, but I have been too pressed for time lately to look into how to do it.
However in the absence of that, I thought a regularly updated diary dealing with all the top free agents would help us keep track of a portion of the 300 or so players that entered Free Agency this year. I won't be covering any RFAs, since it isn't likely that Denver, or any team really, will be doing much in that arena.
THE TOP 10 OVERALL
- CB Asante Samuel, New England Looks like the Eagles will be taking the first stab at Samuel.[Word is that Samuel is now an Eagle. There has been specualtion that if Samuel was signed, they might trade CB Lito Sheppard and their #19 to the Cards for Larry Fitzgerald. That would be a VERY nteresting move.]
- LB Lance Briggs, Chicago
- WR Randy Moss, New England
Most expect him to resign with New England.
- RB Michael Turner, San Diego The Falcons are making a really strong push for this guy...Good. Get him out of the conference ASAP!
- WR Bernard Berrian, Chicago The Vikings are really getting into this. I suppose they feel their time is nigh... This contract sings a sweet song to the tune of 6yrs, 42mil. 16mil of that is guaranteed. I'm glad he got out of Chicago, though I would have preferred he go somewhere that had a QB... A classy guy who was one of the few Bears to not take the easy way out and bash his QB(s).
- G Alan Faneca, Pittsburgh To the Jets, 4 years/32 Mil. Nice grab for an aging lineman.
- WR D.J. Hackett, Seattle
- DE Justin Smith, Cincinnati 49ers don't let him leave once he gets to town. A 6yr, $45mil contract with $20mil guaranteed will do that...

- C Jeff Faine, New Orleans Signed by the Buccaneers, for an undisclosed contract.
- G Rex Hadnot, Miami
- DE N.D. Kalu, Houston

- D.J. Hackett, Seattle
- Jerry Porter, Oakland Well, he never quite panned out in oakland, but can you really hold that against him? Lets see what the Jags can do with him. That makes something like 8 or 9 Jaguars WRs in training camp next year. That's going to be a heck of a competiition!
- Bryant Johnson, Arizona

- David Patten, New Orleans
- Isaac Bruce, released 49ers giving free agency a chance this year...Take it from us guys, this FA stuff will only hurt you...

- Shane Olivea, released
- Alan Faneca, Pittsburgh The rumors finally come true and Faneca will now man the line for the NY Jets. All it took was $40mil over five years...and $25mil of that is rumored to be guaranteed. I have to chuckle at the calls the last few months for the Broncos to "just go get Faneca." He, he. Not very likely...
- Rex Hadnot, Miami
- Jake Scott, Indianapolis
- Jacob Bell, Tennessee
- Damien Woody (T), Detroit
- Justin Smiley, San Francisco (IR) Received a 25mil, 5 year deal from the Dolphins. 9mil guaranteed.

- Brandon Chillar, St. Louis
- Landon Johnson, Cincinnati
- Danny Clark, Houston
- Mario Haggan, Buffalo
- Boss Bailey, Detroit
CORNERBACKS
- Asante Samuel, New England He is an Eagle now...
- Marcus Trufant, Seattle *
- Drayton Florence, San Diego Florence is picked up by the Jags. I haven't heard a contract yet, but I would have preferred he left the AFC altogether. When I hear Florence's name, all I can think is that as good as he is, he was made expendable by Cromartie. Damn Chargers!
- Randall Gay, New England
- Gibril Wilson, N.Y. Giants TO the Faders, 6 years/39Mil...The Fade is really blowing their wad this off-season...
- Ken Hamlin, Dallas *
- Marlon McCree, released
- Yeremiah Bell, Miami (IR)
- Eugene Wilson, New England
- Madieu Williams, Cincinnati (IR) 33 million will buy you a safety anywhere...Vikings make sure it is in Minnesota, as Williams is now Purple.
- Will Demps, Houston
- Chris Crocker, Atlanta
- Josh Brown, Seattle Signed by Rams to replace Wilkens. 5 yr deal worth more than 14mil, with a rumored 4mil signing bonus.
- Jason Elam, Broncos
- Miami signs David Kircus, WR. Is it just me or is Parcell's trying to be funny here?
- Miami signs WR, Ernest Wilford. AARRRGH! Just when I though the Tuna had lost his shine, they pick up the one free agent which I thought had a legitimate chance to have an impact and was within Denver's scope to sign.
- Niko Koutouvides, MLB Unless you are from Seattle you probably haven't heard of this 3yr ST standout. Tampa Bay gets to talk to him first, but if they don't sign him, guess who will...
- DT Marcus Stroud, signed by Bills I don't recall the Bills getting pushed around much on the defensive line, so I'm just guessing that they are looking for a pass rush from this guy.
- DE Jason Taylor Nothing definitive here, just a very logical rumor: he should be parting ways with the dolphins between now and the draft. The method of his leaving, whether trade or cut, is unkown, though the tuna can be a shark sometimes, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade for a couple of young diamonds in the rough... Is it just me, or is it a joy to watch Parcells GM a team?
