Why New Era Scouting? Why?

After Guru's great interview with New Era scout, Matt Miller two weeks ago, I went and bookmarked their site. Well, I've been checking it out from time to time and was aghast to learn that one of their writer's has such a lowly outlook for our 2008 season. He just posted his 2009 Mock Draft (okay, before anyone panics, my rant is tongue-in-cheek and I'm not Mel Kiper's long, lost love-child) and guess where they have the Broncos selecting? #6 for crying out loud! I hope that doesn't portend bad things for next season! They have the following stink-pot teams finished better than us: #9 Fins, #13 Faders, and #18 Bungels, for example.

Anyway, here's who they say we'll draft:

6. Denver Broncos - James Laurinaitis MLB Ohio State - After cutting the heart and soul of their defense, middle linebacker Al Wilson, after the 2006 season, the Broncos struggled to find a combination of linebackers in 2007. The experiment of having D.J. Williams play the middle was ended this year, by signing Niko Koutvides away from Seattle. While Koutivides has talent, grabbing an impact linebacker like Laurinaitis is a must. He has great athleticism and is a three down linebacker.

Oh wait, maybe I'm rushing to judgment. Perhaps Shanny will orchestrate a mammoth trade that sends us the #6 pick next year after we win the Super Bowl. That sounds much better.  :)

Regards,
bcfunk...up to late, can't the 2008 draft get here sooner and super excited for cutler and the fellas next year!
