With The 7th Pick In The 2008 MHR Community Mock NFL Draft...

The New England Patriots, represented by TommyTSlice select....

DOMINIQUE ROGERS-CROMARTIE, DB - TENNESSEE ST.

G.M. - TommyTSlice - To some this pick may seem as a reach because he comes from a small school and you could argue the patriots need help at LB and should draft Kieth Rivers..

But Rogers-Cromartie is the best suit for the Patriots at the number 7 pick.  They lost Gay and Samuel in Free agency and this pick would help fill that hole.

He should be a top corner for this team for years to come.

The Draft So Far --

#1 - Miami Dolphins - DE Chris Long, Virginia
#2 - St. Louis Rams - OT Jake Long, Michigan
#3 - Atlanta Falcons - DT Glen Dorsey, LSU
#4 - Oakland Raiders - RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas
#5 - Philadelphia Eagles(via Trade w/ K.C. Chiefs) - DE Vernon Gholston, Ohio St.
#6 - New York Jets - DB Leodis McKelvin, Troy St.

The Baltimore Ravens, handled by Rexx are up next, followed by Cincinnati, represented by ilikekitties!

Interesting Pick
He is supposed to be Antonio's distant cousin somehow.  It will be interesting to see if he has some of the same skills.  In 06 Charger fans were wondering if he was a wasted pick, but AJ knew what he was doing.

Unfortunately
this is a logical pick. I think we shoudl approach them for a trade. They need a CB and LB so they could go any way here. If we miss out on Ellis I would hope we pick up Rivers. I know we got some guys this off season but we got older guys not younger we need some new blood. Plus, anyone who watch SC this year knows he plays everywhere, he is stinking DJ Williams all over again. If we could steal him or Ellis I would be extremely happy

I felt
Picking this pick that the Patriots number one need was at the Corner back position...even though Mrdierk took a corner before i still feel dominique rodgers-cromartie is the better corner..

small school may lead people away but look how brandon marshall turned out.

Interesting
I don't think River's is a good fit for the 3-4.  I was expecting Gholston here, who I'm not all that excited about, but he certainly fits their scheme.

That said, the Patriots need help at LB and DB (they lost Eugene Wilson and Randall Gay).  Given that Rivers probably isn't a Patriot's guy, I think this is a good pick.

It will be interesting to see if the Ravens bite on Gholston now that he's available!

I forgot
Gholston was off the board...

Al Davis and the Raiders think
this pick isn't flashy enough. There isn't a distant cousin of Deion Sanders to draft? :)

As stated above, solid and smart pick. I still think they'll try and trade down come draft day.

I agree....
The Pats have traded first round picks the past couple of eyars to get multiple first round picks the next year.  I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again, getting a lower first this year and a first next year...

This was the danger for the Jets
Pats draft the #2 CB off the board and now the Jets have to worry if they got the right guy or if Cromartie will be a star and McKelvin will be a bust.

Excellent Pick.
The Pats can't really trade down because there are plenty of teams that could look for a CB (Saints and Bills) or LB (Saints and Bengals) directly after their pick.  Staying put and taking the best CB available is a solid move.  They could, of course, trade down significantly and nab a couple of second tier CBs instead, which would be rather interesting.  Undefeated teams have a lot of options in the draft.
