My Dime.

It's a bit more than 2 cents (Denver Mock).

I am assuming that we trade down twice (similar to what's going on in the mock Guru is a part of). Go from 12 to late teens for a mid 3rd. Go from there to mid 20's for a late 3rd rounder.

I listed an alternative player just to make it more realistic.

1. FS K Phillis . . . . OR . DT K Balmer
2a DT P Sims  . . . . OR . DT T Laws
2b WR E Bennett . . OR . OT S Baker
3a DT M Harrison  . OR . LB J Goff
3b SS T Zbikowski . OR . WR J Nelson
4a TE J Finley . . . . OR . TE B Cottam
4b DE B Johnston  . OR . RB M Hart
5a OT B Giacomini . OR . OL C Rinehart
5b P D Brooksor . . OR . K T Mehlhaff
6. WR M Monk  . . . OR . WR J Rivers
7a DE/T M Dixon  . OR . DT J Thompson
7b P Dragosavich . OR . K S Longest

More

  1. Our need at S is obvious, and getting Phillips late in the first is pretty good. If Phillips is gone we can get a run stuffing DT.
  2. Sims is like Dorsey (they were both first team SEC), he just started late and is coming out early. He could have made it to the top half of the first had he stayed another year. We will need to give this guy at least a year or two before he can really shine. Laws is the alternative with more experience, but less potential.
  3. Bennett has been talked to death. He might not become a star, but we can depend on him for years to be a 2nd option. Baker has had a great career at USC. He was their best OT for years, and he fits our system.
  4. Harrison is a great talent at DT. Goff is a great talent, but needs some more development to be ready for the pro game. He is fast enough to move to the outside, so he could take over for K@ or Boss in a couple of years.
  5. Zbikowski would make a decent SS. We could then more Abdullah/Phillips to FS (Assuming Abdullah doesn't leave in FA). I just love Nelson. If we cant have Bennett, he is the guy I want. He has the exact same size/speed as Thomas, but he was more productive. Dude was a walk-on Safety who made it this far. Great attitude.
  6. Apart from Scheffler our TEs are all near 30 years old. We need to add a 2nd young TE to the mix. Finley is just a solid TE (Think Bo Scaife). Cottam is a huge man; bit of an injury history, but he can play.
  7. Coming from a small Johnston is a bit of a risk, but he has all the tools and production. At the very least he will be a guy like Engleberger; good pick for a 4th rounder. But he also has the potential to be great. Hart would be a nice complement to Young. He played in an old styled Off at Michigan. I have faith in his between the tackle ability.
  8. Giacomini has the tools to be a great fit for us at OT. He is new to the position (converted TE), but I think he can be very good one day. Rinehart is like Kuper. Played OT, but might make a better pro Guard. Since the situation with Hamilton is not clear, we only have two OG we can count on (Kuper and Holland), so taking a backup is a smart move.
  9. They are basically the highest rated K and P on the boards I looked up. Nothing special here.
  10. I love Monk. If we can pair him up with Marshall, and put Bennett in the slot ... WOW. I like Rivers too; he seems like the only real WR out of Hawaii to me.
  11. Dixon is a huge DE. A bit slow to play DE in the NFL, but can do very well as a DT. He stuffs the run and can Bull-rush really well. Thompson is another Trevor Laws type DT, only a little slower. Hard worker who makes all the plays. Can't ask for much more in the 7th.
  12. If we take K in the 6th, the we need a P here (or the other way around). For the practice squad you know.
I know, 10 picks. But I don't expect all these guys to make it on the team. A couple will go on the practice squad. One or two will be busts. And we also have a alot of trash on our roster right now that needs to replaced.
