Foxworth Signs Tender
Domonique Foxworth signed his tender and barring any trades will don the blue and orange for 2008. I am one of the guys who is a big advocate of his and hope he stays on the team. I DO see him as a #1 corner in his career and hope he around Denver when it happens. for more information check out his blog entry from the Broncos Website. I know this doesn't mean he won't be a part of a trade but I would hope his good faith in signing his rather LOW tender for his ability and talent would keep him around Denver for at least this year. I personally think Bly will go before Foxy unless we trade the boy away. He states he loves Denver and doesn't want to leave which makes me think we could offer him fair market next year and keep him.

Foxworth's situation is an enigma
On the one hand he is a solid CB. He and Paymah seem to go back and forth in terms of who is better (Fox was better the first year, but in ‘07 Paymah demonstrated better nickleback skills). Foxworth is also able to play SAF in a pinch (much better than Paymah, but still not a role I like for Foxworth).
All in all he’s a fantastic option to have at #3 CB (or at #4 if Paymah is filling nickle). He’s good enough to play at #2 for several teams right now, but is stuck behind two top ten CBs. He also has an excellent attitude.
On the other hand, as a trade option he is very valuable. He is clearly good enough to be a future starter for us, but he is valuable as trade bait too. Without having staggered our CB contracts, we face the loss or unreal signing amounts for Bailey and Bly at nearly the same time. Not long after that, we face the same situation with Foxworth and Paymah at the same time. It’s tricky to say which way Denver will (or should) go.
Great job getting the news on the tender out to everyone Jon!

Pleased with signing
I think Foxy will now be able to focus solely as our #3 CB instead of masquerading as a plug-and-play safety when Lynch goes down with an injury.
As for his value as trade bait, all I’ll say is we better make sure we’re going after a guy that dramatically improves our team on day 1 (e.g., part of a package to get Ellis). Nothing is worse that trading a known quantity for an unknown prospect, especially if that prospect is nabbed in Rds 3 and following….
I wish Woody Paige was our coach!

Good keep
He is a man of character. You can never have too many of those on a team. He is versatile. He cost less than $1mm. As HT said “He also has an excellent attitude.”
