as I’m watching a bit and still aspiring to possibly be a writer, it can be a little unsettling. The issue’s been brought up before…the papers are a dying breed. People still read the papers, but it’s usually a while after games actually happen and all the knowledge is had. However, papers have shifted to get the news out online, and still break inside stories about moves front offices make, as they have the comments. The whole dramatization of the issue was fairly comical though…some people really get into it, like the one guy (woooow…geez we’re just expressing our opinions lol).

But the biggest was the assumption that blogs were some monolithic entity that can all be lumped together. Somehow, I am able to understand that the National Enquirer and Entertainment Tonight are different from the NY Times and the CBS Evening News, but Bissinger’s and others like him can’t or won’t see that distinction. I could rant for quite a while on this topic (both related to sports and the traditional news media), but I want to keep the blood pressure down.

I look forward to the day when the media dies in importance.

There are still people in the media that I respect (although I do ironically hate most in the media lol), and those people still have the contacts and inside information that still makes them relevant. and important.
