Broncos Trade
*Update [2008-4-6 1:38:28 by broncodude793]:*-I need to start paying attention in English class and work on my writing rather than reading the Horse Tracks everyday.
Ok, here, you're not going to find out a major trade the Broncos have just made. Rather, you'll find my logic. I will call for something that will most likely be hated, but I think you guys will be able to see where I'm coming from.
Okay, picture this. Brandon Marshall is out for some reason and Colbert flops like he will. Okay we have Brandon Stokely and Selvin Young as our two biggest offensive threats for the year.(Scheff is a t.e. and I'm not counting those.) Jay Cutler goes into his 3rd year as starting qb with no wr's and a good tight end in Scheff. Nice offense.
Now, I love Marshall, don't get me wrong, but he can't be counted on. He's Chris Henry without the arrests and they could be coming. He can't be counted on to be Cuter's number one.
With the draft coming up, we need to focus on Culter. Cutler. Cutler. Cutler. Cutler. And Cutler. You have to build around him first. You need wide receivers and linemen.
We have a great track record of drafting linemen so that's not a worry, and the whole defense needs to come out of remedial therapy after the disaster that was Jim Bates, so they need a year of evaluating with the new safeties, lbs, and another year under last years draftees.
Keeping this in mind, I suggest the Broncos make a play on Chad Johnson.

Okay. Think about this. He doesn't get in trouble off the field. He just wants to win. Wow, that's too big checkmarks for our team. Then, he's that big play receiver that we need. It's a lot to chew on and I doubt we'll see it, but he does make sense for us as much as some might hate it.
Trading for Chad and getting back into the third round should be our priorities for the draft.
Thoughts?

Here is my thought
How do we get Johnson and get back into the third round and not give up future picks? I like Johnson, I dont want to give up anything down the line for now. I would much rather miss the playoffs this year and develop our team, than trade for Johnson and lose our #1 next year.
The other flaw is that Marvin Lewis and the Bengals front office has said they are going to honor 85's contract and not release or trade him. They said he will be a Bengal if he is in the NFL next year.
Thats about all I got. It just doesn't seem probable and I feel Ocho is a "ME" player and we have had our fair share of Walker.

Denver's legal team...
I imagine the leash will get shorter for our younger players. I'm not giving up on Thomas or Marshall yet, but I would assign a mentor player and lay down the law when camp starts.

I have been silent on Chad
The whole issue is moot though. Now that Cinci has cut Chris Henry they are not gonna trade Chad. Their offense is based on 3 WR sets. They were 2-6 without Henry and 5-3 with him. Now that he is permanently gone I just can't see how they can part with #85.

There's no way...
If there's a WR out there who I'd like us to trade for (for the right price) it would be Roy Williams (Det).

My thoughts
It's too soon to let Marshall go. We just lost Javon Walker, and now we're going to give up our other WR? We really need to keep some players, particularly young and upcoming ones.
If we keep trading away players or bringing in gobs of FAs (as we did last year) we won't have a core team. Teams in player transistion can' gell together nor can they specialize in whatever scheme Denver is running.
This year we brought in several FAs, but they are only stop gap, inexpensive players. We are relying heavily on the draft. Right now (to build the core) we need to try to hold on to as many young, talented players as we can.
On the other hand, I think that (other than DT) we need to focus on building around Cutler with this draft. Our priorities should be (in no particular order) DT, WR, and OL.

I agree about OL but...
My perfect scenario is for the Broncos to draft the BEST players on board when their pick comes up regardless of position (aside from QB where we're set). Outside of Cutler, Champ and DJ I think everyone could use some healthy competition for their jobs. Nobody, in my mind, deserves anything based on our performance the last two years.

Yea, the salary is an issue, but
Then, we find linemen out of nowhere. They will come. No need to draft one high. I like it better when we trade down and get those late round picks.
Someone said that It'd be a problem getting into the third round, helping the D, and getting C.J.
Firstly, I turn to The Villyn. He put it on the dot.
About that problem. No use in have 4 viable starting cb's. Depth is great but when depth is going to leave next year, better for depth to reseult in a greater result. <trade>
I didn't say to get rid of Marshall. He needs to be controlled. He's on the line.
p.s., Villyn, you made my signature.

How about...
How much do you guys think he would be worth? 2nd rounder? 3rd+4th?. Randle El is pretty much the same type of player, so he's a possibility too.
The limited action i've seen with him has mostly been positive, but I would like hear your oppinion!

Santana Moss...hmm...interesting...
For the right price (i.e., we exploit the skins yet again 3/4th), I would like to have Moss wearing blue and orange. The same can't be said for Randle El. He's not a #2 WR in this league IMO.

Well,
Moss is stokely with speed. He could work though I'm not sure you want 2 guys at Moss and Stokely's size out there.
Hey, have to build around cutler first or we're going nowhere.
