Would Denver have interest in Urlacher?
If Shanahan was to send the Bears running back Travis Henry, wide receiver Brandon Stokley and linebacker Ian Gold along with two draft picks — including a first-rounder if the Broncos make the playoffs — it would be a trade that would work out well for both teams.Since Week 3 (or so) of last year, I've thought the Bears needed to go into rebuilding mode. In the modern NFL, that doesn't take a long time. Considering the Bears have good (somewhat) young talent in Tommie Harris, Lance Brigss,

No Deal
In my humble opinion Coach Shanahan would not go for the suggested trade. I don’t know where we stand salary cap wise, but we would obviously have to go somewhere north of his current deal and $18m isn’t chump change for MLB. Urlacher’s health is a concern. We are excited about K2. This entire off-season of reloading we have been focused on getting high character “value” players who have their best years in front of them. We have not mortgaged our future for any reason. This trade would go against that grain in every aspect other than character. So, I would say No Deal.

Well...
It’s clear the Bears need a running back, but…
I wouldn’t do anything deal-wise. If the deal is anywhere near the area you posted above, I believe that’s a little too much to give up. The Broncos have been slowly building and have been content with the draft picks they are going to have next season, or so it seems. They changed up the linebacker corps and right now it’s too early to say yes or no, as Denver did bring in Niko Koutouvides to play the Middle. Right now the Broncos are set, or so it seems, and they don’t have to forfeit all that much. The Bears would probably have to look elsewhere, as I see this as pure speculation. I also believe they released Ian Gold…correct? Denver doesn’t need to mess with what it has moving forward.

No deal...
Shanny and Bowlen are trying to trim salary cap space. We think it might be related to the new CB talks. No way we trade for Urlacher now…maybe before we landed K2, but not now.

Oh and thank you for the kind words about MHR...
I have decided to forgive you for the game we played against the Bears last season. ;)

You mean forgive your coach for kicking to Hester?
God, this season is going to blow when teams never kick him the ball. 3 & out from the 35-yard line every time. Ugh.

Keep me out of the equation!
That was one horrible night! I was sitting infront of my computer from 2 am. to 5 am. with a crappy sopcast-stream, and on the MHR-chatboard – and they just kept kicking it to him !! Believe me when i say “That following monday sucked in every possible way!”
Remember: New England won 18 last year; Oakland's won 19 in a half-decade

Ummm...
Thanks for stopping by tyger; you and others like you are always more than welcome here! There are several things wrong with your trade. First, we no longer employ Ian Gold. Second, Brandon Stokely is an integral part of our current roster. Third, we have no real reason to deal Travis Henry at this point, seeing as he restructured his contract in order to gain a second chance with us. Fourth, we believe we’ve found our answer, both in the short and long term, at MLB with Niko Koutouvides
Finally, you’re asking for way too much in return for Urlacher. He’s a great player, but he comes with major injury and now character concerns. He’s up there in age and is aided by elite personel around him and a favorable scheme to play in. Why did you want a handful of veterans as part of the return for him anyway? If you want to rebuild, focus on high value draft picks and/or a young stud to replace him or fill another position of need.
By the way, you got a very good RB in the draft. Matt Forte was one of my favorite prospects in this draft and he’ll be good for you; he’ll also make Benson better by limiting his exposure. Don’t listen to the mainstream media too much, because they rarely know what they’re talking about. Here are my potential targets for an Urlacher trade: Raiders, Redskins and maybe the Browns or Chargers if they feel he can adapt to the 3-4. Not a long list, but certain one with rich targets that love trading valuable picks for vets like Urlacher! Hope this helps, best of luck to your Bears and thanks for stopping by!

No thank you
First of all, Denver doesn’t own Gold anymore.
Second, Stokely still wouldn’t help the Bears’s WR needs
Third, Henry doesn’t seem like a big enough trading piece to make up for above points
Finally, I’ve always thought Urlacher was overrated and overpiad. He’s good, but he gets more attention thanks to Mike Singletary and other great Bears mike LBs.

Forget Urlacher
and tell us what you’ll give us for Gold. Anything at all will be just fine.

I'm with everyone else.
No trade for Url. The real question should be, what do you want for him? CHI needs draft picks, not older players. You need the picks to spend to get high in the draft and go all out for a QB, and you need the lower picks to build a young foundation around him. For that reason, Denver isn’t who you wan to talk trade with.
Denver is too busy rebuilding it’s own youth core (and corps) to want any big name FAs or big names in a trade. We’ve been talking about that for awhile over here.

I watch about 11 Bears games a season...
living in Chicago. They’re more-or-less my very distant second team along with the Texans.
Urlacher is a great MLB, no doubt. I have a very hard time calling him overrated. Everyone’s bringing up his charcter and injury, but Urlacher would not be a good fit in Denver until we develop a good defensive line. Urlacher’s performance takes a substantial drop when the defensive line is not eating up the blockers allowing him to roam free and make the tackle. Yes, Urlacher is definitely better than what we have now, but not at that cost and he will never be nearly as good here as he was/is in Chicago.
Now, if you want to trade Travis Henry and Ian Gold for Tommi Harris, I think we can work something out! We’ll even throw in Simeon Rice and Sam Adams! Tommi’s a beast. He walked right past me one day, he’s Shannon Sharpe built only in a bigger frame.

Wow. Thanks guys for the all the Ian Gold references and implying I'm an idiot.
And thanks to those who didn’t.

Didn't mean to imply that you're an idiot,
I was just having a little fun. Sorry, if you took it the wrong way. The fact that you’re trying to deal Urlacher, even though he’s been the face of the Bears the past decade shows, at least to me, that you’re not an idiot. His better days are gone and his salary hinders who else the Bears can bring in. You’re definitely not an idiot. It’s hard to keep up with every transaction in the league. I just found out yesterday that Shaun Rogers went to the Browns if it makes you feel any better.

I hope most didn't respond that way.
Did you at least enjoy the picture I posted? :)
The Bears never beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl so I have no reason to be rude to Bears fans. ;)

You're no idiot.
Didn’t you say you came up with that idea last season some time. Besides, if it sounded that way, I’m sure it wasn’t intended. This site is for everyone, regardless of expertise. From what I’ve seen, the guys who know what they’re talking about never use that knowledge to abuse others. I’ve been a fan for more years than I care to mention right now but I was never really a student of the game. I’ve learn something new about football (and computers) just about every time I log on.
Don’t be a stranger. You’re always welcome, as long as we don’t see Hester touch the ball again, lol!
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!
