MattR maybe able to answer better than I, but that is my understanding. So basically you have say a 100 mil salary cap and you take a 1 mil cap hit you only have 99mil to operate.

In order to sign someone, somone else must be cut. There are fans in Denver now clammoring for the Broncos to sign Sean Alexander. The question becomnes, “Who are we going to cut?” We are already pretty happy with our RBs. So then who? Badly needed depth at O Line? A corner? A ST ace? I doubt it.

Don’t getr me wrong. I think Hartwell is a good guy. But oakland must cut someone to make room for him.
